I still use usenet. Right now I'm posting an interesting discussion about Pawn Stars specifically S06E13 in 720p. Many people are interested in this discussion and many people will join in once I finish posting about it. I dismiss the creeps and lurkers that say usenet is only for leeches and pirates.
Let the pigs step on their throats and suck the breath from their lungs. I value my freedom and the right to express it how I see fit.

I had been running Sickbeard / SABnzbd / NZB Matrix to catch up on shows my DVR missed. It seems that those TV shows are still being found.

Do I not need NZB Matrix to help Sickbeard in the finding of those shows? Was Matrix that just for other pirate bay style stuff?

Sickbeard runs their own index behind the scenes. It doesn't operate in the same way that sites like nzbmatrix or the others do.

Well, Im just happy Im not one of those that bought VIP at NZBMatrix recently. I've had my account for over a year now.

Sad to see them, go. They were one of the best. Now I have to wait until the dust settles from everyone scrambling to find another indexer.

I already found mine.

Several actually. I will list one of them but only because it is private and everyone who needed to get an invite already did.

I've found 2 alternatives to matrix, but could use other options if anyone has a suggestion.

This is what happens when they make it easier for the masses. I have never used any indexing sites. Binsearch (others like it) are enough for me.

Binsearch is also what I prefer to use. Best way to search for content.

If your newsprovider supports header compression its not too bad just stay away from a.b.boneless.

mine does and i've been grabbing headers for years (inc boneless). originally using giganews app to compress them, now every client and provider supports it i think. otherwise they'd be unusable IMO.

I'm thinking about joining some news groups can someone with experience please direct a total noob to a good usenet provider that is secure?
Any PM's on how to do it would be great but I don't want anyone's fight club card to be revoked.

The link at the top of the page (Astraweb) is one of the most popular and it's been great for me.

The new European laws have taken it's toll on USENET content along with other forms of file storage.

Good Luck!

Major movie releases are being deleted within hours recently.

I've only had one problem, and it was specific to a HD version of a sequel to a movie with a bunch of former and current action stars. No matter which one I grabbed, and how long it was posted, the articles were expired.

And I've seen a decent deal on a seedbox, so I thought I'd give it a try. Its not as fast as newsgroups, but they complement each other well. It might be just as fast if my tastes were more mainstream, but the stuff I use it for is not available on newsgroups. What I dont like is having to download from the server after you finish, but whatever. Maybe I'll set up a cron job to run rsync or something.
