Einstein or Newton. The other two are laughable.
Einstein or Newton. The other idiots did nothing to further our understanding of the universe.
Two sad statements.

I answered da vinci before reading the OP. According to the criteria established by the OP, I guess I'll go with newton, but einstein is an equally good choice. According to the question of who was the greatest genius only, and not who had the biggest impact, I would say Da Vinci.
It's a fallacy to say that a person's genius can only be measured in terms of the size of their legacy. I would say that Beethoven is the greatest genius out of the people listed because he was the most powerful creative figure; in my opinion He made a greater impact on music than either Einsten or Newton on physics.Originally posted by: csyberblue

Greater genius != Bigger impact on history

Newton, he gave us Calculus and Universal gravitiation, in addition to his three laws. Sure he duplicated other's work, but he deserves credit for breaking a lot of ground and unifying much.
Einstein stands almost exactly the same, IMO, except he lived in an age where science was much more proven, so Newton gets my nod.

Make up your mind on the question...
Is it the greatest genius? Or greatest impact?
Genius: Da Vinci, without a doubt. Greatest Impact: undoubtedly, Newton
