In those scenarios, I always thought both would result in a split pot, since the high card each person has is shared, and cards below the high card don't matter, thus resulting in a tie in that view.
Maybe I was just taught wrong, or am completely forgetting how I was taught. It's been awhile since I played, and split pots were extremely rare, or someone in the same situation had a higher card than what had been amongst the community cards.
I love poker but rarely get a chance to play.
