Depends how you look at it.
If you want it by albums sold... then just do it by albums sold?
As for originality, I would give it to someone such as Tool.
Metallica, Seether, Nickelback, foo Fighters - it all sounds the same. Very little originality, the only difference is vocals. Same lyrics whining about a girl.
Linkin Park is music for 12 year olds. The fact that people consider them the best at anything besides making prepubescent boys think they found a band that "gets them" means that a good majority of society is retarded.
Dominant was the question, not best.

Yes, because 12 year olds are proven to love songs with intro clips of Mario Savio and J. Robert Oppenheimer.
And even if they do, so what? Not everything you loved when you were 12 was trash. But if it that is the case, then I feel very sad for you. Well, not very sad, maybe just a little.
No one is making the case that Linkin Park is the technically most proficient of the rock bands. But it doesn't mean their music is enjoyable. Anything that is a matter of taste has range - just because something is simpler doesn't make it worse just because some high-minded internet poster says so.

I was referring to the link above.
Case in point:
"I both like 30 seconds to mars and linkin park the same but I think linkin park is far more better than 30 Seconds to Mars, I mean chester vocals are so perfect that jared can never make this kind of vocals and also the idea to put together rock and nu-metal was better idea than another rock band... But I still like 30 Seconds to Mars"
