All of you better hope you never have to face what alwaysON is up against.

You are seeing the desperation many face today and that many more will
face soon. Maybe some of you that flamed this thread will face the same
desperation as alwaysON.

This economy is suck. We've been in a recession for 8 months
and we might see the first depression in your life time.

Right now the technology sector is in very bad shape.
Telecom sucks, air travel, hotel, and all other travel industries suck.
If another big industry goes down, like auto, banking or
real estate, this economy will go down hard.
All other sectors will follow.

The fed can't do any more.

I fear my company may go under soon and with over 10000 layoffs from companies
near my home, there is no chance of finding another job without moving. But
where is it any better?

alwaysOn, things could turn around soon if you believe some of the
analysts. Spring may be much better for many companies, but their
is only hope and little else to go on right now. Defense and healthcare
are hanging in there, but even the big drug companies are putting
out profit warnings.

I didn't realize how bad the job market is.. hmm. Maybe you should try getting a master like someone else suggested. Hopefully, the job market will be better when you get out and you'll be a more valuable asset. If I were to get layed off, my first response would be to go back to school and get a masters. I have a EE which is still fairly valuable as a BS, but I've never heard much of TC.

Well, good luck!

C'mon guys...At least show the guy some sympathy.
What's so bad about posting something like this on the forums? I've seen people on the MaxPC forums looking for employees.

so what is your degree? B.S. thats great but what is your specific degree? mabye i just missed that. I realllllly hope you've been looking for a job in your last year at college b/c that is where you will be hired. Most companies looking for fresh out of college folks will go to the colleges themselves and hire from them. If you leave teh college and try to get a job it gets much harder. Contact your college's career place (hopefully you went to their career fair!) and see if they can help you. Also there are people who make a living putting employees/employers together (usually a free service since the companies pay the person for this). I'm in medical school now so i don't have to worry about jobs ever)))))))

this time last year, i was getting so many emails through school with open positions that it was getting annoying. this quarter, i haven't gotten any, not even 1.

i had some great internships and boeing would have a job for me right now if it wans't for the tragedy on September 11th.

For those of you sending all those job offers for McDonalds and offering me to scoop up dog poop in your backyard, i would hold on to those for yourself. Although i really appreciate the offers, they're just not for me. You just might need it in a month or two.

For the other people who are looking or might have to, good luck to you all. I know there's companies out there hiring, just not all of them are advertising their openings.

Good luck to you!

hey Alwayson, don't listen to these useless F@GGOTS and their disses. I know what you are going through cause i graduated 6 months ago. Here's the scoop, most applications for grad school acceptances deadline is in january. You have enough time to take the gre (its on computer so they usually have spaces) and get your letter of recommendations from professors. You would do that because you have a good chance of getting financial aid (subsidized of course) so you can at least live. Second, don't always look for full time jobs, that's just not going to happen unless you get REALLY lucky. Look for internships, i know they don't pay that well, but that's something you got to get over. What i'm doing now is working 30 hours as an intern and going to graduate school at the same time. So far it's been okay and i would recommend you doing the same.

Good luck.

Okay; just one thing. For all of you pathetic screamers that are angered by the "off topic" nature of this thread, i say to you quiet down. No one cares how angry you are. Maybe if someone posted a thread on "I learned math at school today" you could "flame" them, but this thread is a little more applicable to more peoples lives. Just settle down; no one cares about your gripes.

Well u r in the wrong forum..

But I dont think that makes u stupid. I think u r just desperate/creative.

My advice to u wld also be to go back to school. Do MS/MBA whatever. U can get campus jobs
research jobs more easier right now..
A year ago i wld definitely fwd ur resume to my manager.. But we are laying off 10% this week. and probably another 10 % in feb...

best of luck with ur job... (things do turn around.. even in a good economy it took me 4 months to get a job i actually liked..)

Something seems wrong about this original post. You are asking for help looking for a job, but after looking at what you have listed under "Professional Experience", I HIGHLY doubt you would be posting on a anandtech message board.

I'd just like to apologize for sending that link to McDonalds - I mean, this was clearly a Hot Deal...it was, wasn't it?? oh...shoooooot...waiiiit...you mean, posting your resume is NOT a hot deal?? You don't say? Are you sure??? But wait...why don't we all interlock arms, team up, and ALL post our resumes!!! Together, we can transform this forum into Hot Deals and Resumes!!! YEAH!!! What a great idea!! Oh, but wait... I bet if 20 people post their CV's on this forum, all you idiots defending AlwaysON would be singing a different note. Do you HONESTLY think this goon is the ONLY person looking for a job right now?? Do you think EVERYONE who graduated from U. of Wash with AlwaysON's class was unable to find a job??? NO WAY!!! The top candidates were employed immediately -- the less competitive ones are actively looking for jobs....and the bottom of the stack...well, i guess they waste their time posting their resumes on AT Hot Deals. Yeah, what a winner. Check this out: "University of Washington, Seattle WA. BS (and no, this doesn't stand for Bull Sh*tter)"...what kind of MORON puts such a phrase in his resume?? Who are you kidding, man. You got links to Fry's and McDonalds BECAUSE YOU DESERVED IT.

And for the rest of you blaming the economy, you make me sick. That's all people do nowadays...they blame others for their own inadequacies and shift the locus of control away from themselves. Can you change the economy??? NO. So what are you gonna do?? Cry about it??? Blame the terrorists for your unemployment!!??? Did it ever occur to you that you should actively seek a job?? And if you are not competitive for limited positions, then perhaps you should improve your marketable skills??? Or are you going to moan to everyone you meet (including AT Hot Deals) about how you're the victim, blah blah. Perhaps if you whiners spent a little less time on AT and a little more time sending out resumes and calling up employers, then maybe...just MAYBE...you'd have a job. In the meantime, continue to point the finger...blame the economy, blame the immigrants...blame the minorities...and for all you Christians out there...blame God...

Not that I agree with you, and not that I don't agree with you, and actually that I really don't have an opinion on the matter, but this thread is funny as sh*t. I even got a bump in my thread @ for sale trade over this parody of a hot deal.

Ah crap, I'll Link Directly to show you what I'm talking about.

Oh, and yes, I am desperate, make some offers and I'll knock it down a few bucks.

btw, the offer for the sales associate position is still on.
