Or how about through Canada? Could Canada repel a Chinese attack? Once China sets up thier bases in either Mexico or Canada I think we would be in a world of trouble. Then forget it. 1 million plus Chinese soliders would converge on little North Dakota, then Michigan and Oklahoma and then the whole US of A.

I would learn Chinese so I could speak to our new masters.

How would they land 1 million men in either Canada Or mexico? let alone supply them? they would have first knock out the navy and air force. Not an easy thing to do.

They would lose a lot of troops trying to do it. Then IF they managed to even get a foot hold (wich they would eventually) they would have more then just the Army fighting them. I would suspect most able bodied men and women would join to fight.

You think the US will stand idle and watch China invade Canada or Mexico? Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis? Only the US will be even more aggressive this time around.

Depending what kind of war and the purpose of the war. Vietnam and US, for example, were like day and night in terms of their power. Yet the US kinda lost the war.

Well, the Japanese were in a stronger position before WW2 than China is now militarily, and they did a lot of damage. If the US didnt use the Abomb Japan would probably still be resisting to this day. Even if the Chinese military surrendered there's no way to control the population...those guys stand in front of tanks! Like Iraq infinitely squared. Its best not to even think about it, but with Bush in office who knows.

hmmm... nobody raises the question of what's going to happen with all the Chinese currently living in the U.S. (and North America, in general)... will they be neutral, take sides...? I mean, if half the Chinese living here turn "against", that's a serious invasion force right there. Plus... how about security risks? How about hatred and intolerance rearing their ugly heads among the rest of the country's inhabitants?

And what would happen to the economy? More and more, China and the U.S. are like Siamese twins, they may hate each other's guts, but America is addicted to cheap goods (can you REALLY imagine all of these disappearing form the market? There are very few things that aren't made in China these days...) and China needs such an insatiable client.

They would probably do what they did to the Japanese during WW2. Again, its best not to think about it.

I tend to think Japan would have surrendered eventually without the a-bomb. Their airforce was destroyed, we'd largely blockades the island or would have done so and Japan depends heavily on imports for food. You'd just have to starve them out. Not to mention the fire bombing campaign used before the a-bombs was at least as demoralizing.

But taking over China? No way. There's just to many of them.

Personally, I think we should be getting into bed big time with China right now. They're going to become a major economic power soon.

It's not one-way. America is also obssessed with occupying the growing Chinese market. Big companies like GM, Microsoft, GE, AIG, etc and smaller ones invest millions every year to gain market share in China.

Did the Afghans and Iraqis living in the USA turn against the USA?

As the others have said, it depends on who attacks, who defends, if nukes are used ... etc

in Most scenarios (with or without nukes being used) China Would lose.
any scenario involving Nukes, USA would also lose.

If the USA decided to invade China, while still having the forces spread throughout Afganistan and Iraq ... China would probably be able to defend itself, however, the casualties on the Chineese side would be horendous.

If this was a "total war" with the same scale as like, WWII, and for some reason, no nukes were used, I think China would lose in the end, but there would be so many casualties on both sides it would make WWII look like a minor traffic accident.

that might be true if china were invading america, but i really doubt any significant number of chinese troops would surrender if america were invading china.

China will surely have several times more casualties (like 10 to 1) than the US in a full scale conflict. But casualties itself does not determine who wins or who loses. Again in Vietnam war, US lost 58000 and Vietnam lost 3 million. Yet US still lost the war.

Riiight. Go back to the Queen, come back when you know what you're talking about.

Anyways, I sure as hell hope Chinese-Americans such as myself don't get interned like the Japanese. Unless you found asian people to replace all the Chinese people working in restaurants and nail shops, there wouldn't be anymore take out or people getting nail jobs!

Well I hope thats the case, but during 9/11 and the Iraq war this solution was mentioned several times in the news.

Problem with the US fighting anyone nowadays is that its like brother against brother. Anyone see Snow Falling on Cedar Rapids? It was sad to see Japanese Americans held in camps.

Look around you. Seen many Iraqis lately?

Now go to any university and throw a brick in the computing, engineering, or other technically-inclined department. Chances are, you'll hit a Chinese (or an Indian).

I've eaten at Chinese restaurants that don't employ any Chinese. Trust me, it's not something any of us want to go through.

I must have missed that part of the news, I only heard those solutions on the Yahoo message boards, which are known for trolls.

China would never get by the US Navy. If it went nuclear, the whole world would die.
