Who would you vote for if Hillary runs in 2008?

It's early, but all the talk seems to be pointing at Hillary Clinton receiving the nomination in 2008. The big question is, who will the Republicans nominate? I did not add Jeb Bush to the poll, because, well, uhh, well because I cannot even imagine the Republicans nominating another Bush so soon. I also think my fellow Republicans are underestimating the American voters capability of putting Hillary in office. Look what she did in New York. Did she not win her senate seat by a landslide? And she's from Arkansas?

If you had put Clinton vs. Tancredo I'd have voted (R). Otherwise all of your repubs are your typical corporate whores and/or tools of the religious right.

Ms. Clinton grew up in the Chicago area - Des Plaines/Park Ridge area if I'm not mistaken. Was 2 years ahead of my mom in High School.

55-44. Not much of a landslide, especially in liberal NY. Much less than either Kerry or Gore's margin in the state, and look where they ended up nationwide.

And Santorum has said he isn't running for president, unfortunately.

Thanks for the info, for some reason I was thinking she got 70%+ of the votes in her senate run. Paranoia I guess

I ripped the list of R candidates from a poll I found on the intarweb, I know, lazy.

Well look at it this way. Rick Lazio ( I think if I remember correctly) was much more moderate than bush was.

Also, for those of you voting for Guliani, remember that before 9/11 his tenure was full of scandals.

Google "Santorum Savage Love" from home (NSFW)... you'll never look at that scumbag religious rightie the same way again.

True, but can you really extrapolate NY state race results with nationwide results? I'm sure that a poor national showing in a typically red/blue state would be an indication of nationwide performance, but local elections typically have different rules, especially about crossing party lines. The example I'm thinking of is traditional red/blue states electing someone governor from the opposite side. If that person ever ran for president, their state might vote for them, but I doubt many of the other states on that "side" would switch. Just a thought.

Last two:
No, but ends up that way
Yes

The rest I left alone. I generally wouldn't vote for any of them. Maybe McCain if it looked like it would be pretty close.

McCain and Guilliani are whores of the religious right? Guilliani is pro abortion! Get your facts straight.

Check out the CAFTA roll call: Text

Clinton voted Nay on CAFTA, all the Republican senators listed voted Yea. At the very least, the Dems aren't totally obvious with their corporate whoring.

Wow, the results so far are a little surprising. Tie between Newt and Hillary
Actually Newt is a pretty good speaker. Not nearly as good as Hillary's hubby, but then again who is? Bill Clinton is one of the best speakers since Hitler (note: not comparing anything here other than their public speaking ability, of course).

Well, mainly because the staunch repubs all voted repub no matter who the canidates were. Personally, I wouldn't ever want to see Guliani in power again. I just hate him. I dunno why, maybe it is because he used 9/11 to revive his dead political career (It was dead). I wish you guys could put more choices for the Dems, because one area where I strongly disagree with Hillary is Late term abortions. Why would anyone support those? Your bascially killing the baby. At least during the first few months, the baby doesn't have nerves or anything so he or she can't feel it.

Fair enough, but I think Guilliani goes beyond corporate whoring, or religious whoring, or any other kind of whoring. He's just your basic, all purpose whore. I liked him for about 5 seconds after 9/11, until I realized he is a complete and total assclown. I generally try and stay away from making it personal, but in his case I really have to make an exception.

Now McCain, I like that guy. Of course I don't think there is a chance in hell he'd get the Republican nomination, he's spoken his mind way too often lately, especially leading up to the 2004 election.

I totally agree with you, except I have had Guilliani as a mayor for 8 years, so I know from personal experience.

Also, I think McCain can run and win. He is already in the middle, unlike Kerry, who was in the far left before he somehow magically became moderate. People tend to trust McCain and many Democrats feel that he is more of a Democrat moderate than a Republican Moderate. These factors can lead to a Landslide victory if McCain wins the Repub Primary and faces a weak Moderate Democrat. However, if he faces a Staunch Leftist like Clinton, it may be more of a tossup.

I was looking for a 'Hillary vs. Hannity' at the end. I thought you were looking to see how far right some of these ATers o'Really are.

I feel for ya

I think McCain could indeed find a lot of widespread support among the voters, but because of our stupid political system, he'll never get the chance. Hell, if we had a proper democracy, he could have gone up against Bush in 2004...and probably won.

Yeah, the McCain vs Hillary ticket would be a hard choice for me. I personally find both have excellent characteristics and some that are, well meh. I'd probably lean towards McCain though.
