Right now she comes off as Miss South Carolina Teen USA.

I don't see it.. She could have easily spouted some stuff about the Pentagon, DHS, and working with the Alaska National Guard in the whole "when Putin comes over" answer. She just ended up incoherently babbling.

Palin can't. Now granted, I sincerely think she is trying...what else would she be doing over the last month? she is trying to learn this stuff Im sure.

But the leap she is taking from Mayor to Gov and now to VP candidate is just too big. She is allowing it to fvck with her head.

And another thing. I heard this on the radio earlier and I agree with it somewhat. Before, as a politican she only had to rely on herself and her wit. Now, I am sure she has 15 different people telling her what to say and what not to say. Its just simply a very difficult thing to do.

Now I might be making excuses for her and I really don't want to. What I really want to stress though is that THIS IS THE PERSON MCCAIN SAYS IS READY TO BE PRESIDENT.

and she is CLEARLY NOT.

Did anyone get the impression watching the interview that she was a nice lady totally and completely out of her depth? I honestly feel, seriously, that the top 1/3 of intelligent posters on P&N are more knowledgeable, familiar, curious and interested in domestic, international, economic and other political issues than Palin. Watching her was like having a conversation with my aunt who is sorta into politics and is aware of the issues in a peripheral way but couldn't put together a coherent argument on anything.

Joe Scarborough was right when he said either put Palin out there like every other VP nominee in history and let her answer questions and be interviewed and hold press converences and talk to the press, so it doesn't look like she's hiding anything, or, shut her up somewhere and don't let her out in public for one unscripted moment until the election. But this half-assed 3 interview thing is not doing her any favors.

No, she strikes me as not nice - someone who is selfishly power-hungry, who has the same flaws as Bush, who is vindictive and wiling to lie for her own benefit.

Yeah but you sick bastards thought Abu Ghraib was a knee slapper.

They say the memory is first to go red.
No one thought abu Ghraib was a knee slapper. May be Savage??? but he is a tool anyway.
Club Gitmo was the knee slapper you may be thinking of.

Obama the magic Negro is my personal favorite.

Keep spinning, you are debasing yourself.

Yup. YOUR memory was the first to go here. Here's Rushbag on Abu Ghraib:

"I'm sorry, folks. I'm sorry. Somebody has to provide a little levity here. This is not as serious as everybody is making it out to be. My gosh, we're all wringing our hands here."

And . . .

"This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation, and we're going to ruin people's lives over it, and we're going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I'm talking about people having a good time, these people, you ever heard of emotional release? You [ever] heard of need to blow some steam off?"

Maybe not a knee slapper, but they did defend it, and say it was like 'pranks'.

Here is what the top rated right-wing commentator Rush Limbaugh had to
say about Abu Ghraib, as quoted by Sen. Tom Harkin:

Here is what Rush Limbaugh had to
say about Abu Ghraib: He called it?
these are his words, not mine???a fraternity
prank.?? He likened it to a fraternity
prank. He dubbed the humiliation
of inmates ??a brilliant maneuver,
no different than what happens at the
skull and bones initiation at Yale.??
This is Rush Limbaugh talking about
Abu Ghraib. He described the images of
torture as ??pictures of homoerotism
that looked like standard, good-old
American pornography.?? That is Rush
Limbaugh talking to our troops 100
percent of the time. He said of the pictures
at Abu Ghraib?this is a quote
from Rush Limbaugh???if you take
these pictures and bring them back and
have them taken in an American city
and put on an American Web site, they
might win a video award from the pornography
industry.?

Ok , I must have missed that one.
And I would obviously say that he was wrong.
But then I really haven't listened to Limbaugh's program much ,since the Clinton years.

But getting back to Biden, you got to admit some of the Gaffes are hilarious.
Like telling the guy in the wheelchair to stand up and be recognized.

She's just horrible. She should just move to Canada where she would be competitive with other amateurs. She can't compete in the big league. She lacks the education, work experience, intelligence.

No thank you. I guess she might fly with the Green Party, or the NDP, but our current stable of potential leaders is head and shoulders above your crop.

How could you have missed that one? It was so tasteless, ugly and dishonest that it was all over the MSM and our forum?

I don't listen to Rush yet his reaction left an indelible mark in my memory as lacking in even the most basic humanity.

Yes, it hasn't sunk in with eveyone yet, and the problems she has need to be exposed until people are familiar with them and appreciating how much they need to vote against her.

This clip did not have any thread that I saw, and I think it deserves the visibility.

To quote someone other than you whose post I appreciate:

All I can say is thank you for posting this

But I note you place the Olympics higher in importance than the presidency.

LOL. That was good too.

It was amusing. The difference of course being that that Harvard Law graduate hadn't slept in a week after 18 months of campaigning while the hockey mom had never heard of our foreign policy for the last 8 years.

One difference being Obama caught his slip and corrected it, while Palin smugly acted like she had answered the question.

the olympics is a two week event and so it'd be impossible to confine to one thread, as opposed to a 5 minute interview which could be fully covered by one thread. but thanks for misinterpreting my remarks and assuming the worst thing you could think of.

Well, I only made one thread about it, and as far as I'm aware it's the first thread about *these comments*, which I think deserve a thread.

So, she made more than one set of newsworthy blunders in the same interview, and there was a thread discussing her other blunder.

Debates about the newsworthiness of the comments aren't all that useful. You have your opinion and posters of 40 responses to this thread have theirs.

I happen to think that the presidency is a hell of a lot more important than the olympics, and as I said and you ignored, a lot of people clearly don't appreciate how bad she is yet.

While I see the ticket so dangerous to our nation and the world as not being well understood by many voters yet, I'll continue to add to the information about it for voters.

Ya, I know you are comparing the length of the Olympics the the one short interview, but you also appear to be completely missing the point on the relative importance of each.

no, i'm not. i'm saying that all the discussion about 1 short interview should probably be in a single thread. quit trying to put words into my posts that simply are not there.

and if you think that making more threads on this message board will get information to voters, well, i'll let that one stand for itself.

OK I merged the topics now you can stop complaining .

I didn't put any words in your mouth. And yes, I think that posting a thread on her comments will make more people aware of her saying it than not posting the thread.

You are 'thread crapping', not adding any value, IMO, to the topic.

It's about enough.
