Hi all,
I'm new to the forum.

I picked up the Magellan 4000 today, & successfully loaded the poi data provided by timekeeper. It works well on the maestro 4000.

Does anyone know why there is no walmart poi's, or am I searching for the wrong thing?

There are but it has to be spelled WAL-MART. You can also find them by just entering WAL. Spelling has to be exact for POI's.

I tried WAL before I posted, & it returns lots of walgreens, but no wal-marts. But now I know to use the dash.

Got the 3225 yesterday and was impressed by it. But the "upgraded" POI db makes a good thing even gooder.

Costco has a bunch of them for only $150 - which cheap!

Instructions were great - thanks to everyone that contributed.

For some reason - the first XP machine I plugged the GPS into would not mount it - but the second XP I tried worked fine.

Backed up old file and copied over with bigger one.

Runs great - works great. Love the new GPS.

My mistake its because of a DL limit. I have the file now. A simple proxy change let me DL file. Thanks again.

Well I'm not having any luck with the new file. I overwrote the old POI file in the MAPS folder and then reset the GPS but it didn't show any POIs at all and all the categories were gone. It said that there were 29 categories, but all were blank. So I reinstalled the old POI file from backup and tried again, still no joy. Thankfully I'm able to re-install the old POI and all is back to normal. My firmware is 1.36 Any thought as to what the problem might be?

I recalled my firmware was 1.14, so there might be possibility Magellan do something to their new 3225 firmware version 1.36?

Have purchased three 3225's and all went bad after 1 week. returned and got my money back at Costco and purchased a V7Nav740 and no problems. Had it for about a month and it has 11mil poi's Love it.

I'm having a bit of a problem with my 3100. I made a MAP folder on the SD card and put the 6M poi file in there. I changed the line under "POI Map Data" in the Media.cfg file to "\SDMMC Card\MAP". After the gps is reset everything works fine and all of the new POIs are there. But once I turn it off and back on, all of the subcategories, such as the different kinds of restaurants, are blank and it cannot find any POIs when I search. In addition, when I search for a POI near a city, it says it cannot find the location in the database. But again, once I reset it everything is fine until I turn it off and on.
What did I mess up in the modification?

I downloaded the 6 million P.O.I file and it?s sitting on my desktop now.
After recharging the battery, I connected the unit to my pc using my own USB cable which normally I use to connect my camera with.
The unit was supposed to appear like any external USB device but it didn?t.
Therefore, I was unable to access it and to locate the MAP folder in order to remove the original file and replacing it with the larger file.
I ended up giving it as a gift without the upgrade.
What am I doing wrong?
Only later, I noticed that the USB cable in the box is much shorter than mine.
Could this be the reason?

Unbelievable,
My friend returned the next day to ask a question about the unit.
I switched to another USB port and VOILA, the unit shoes up and I was able to upgrade successfully, to 6 million POI

The USB cable for my camera won't work on my 3100. The plug is slightly different.

I am new to this community but using the 3225 from last couple of months. I have found this new POI and updated my GPS recently and it is working fine.

Recently, I discovered something new with this GPS, don't know if anyone of you have found it or not. I am using the FM transmitter in Car and the moment I use it with GPS the GPS stopped or delayed locking of the satellite. When I remove the FM transmitter, It again locks the satellite.

did anyone of you faced the similar issue?

Does this work with the 3250? Very interesting stuff.

The 3250 info I'm finding claims it comes with 6 million POI now though.

EDIT: Nvm... I guess that's where you pulled the POI DB from. Cool to know that I can add more though like this. I think I'll be buying one of these today, CircuitCity has them on sale.

Another question... is there any Magellan or other software to let my PC connect to the GPS via bluetooth so I can essentially just Paste an address on my PC onto the address book in the GPS?

I just added the 6M POI to my 3100 when I found this site over the weekend. Worked great, took all of about 30 minutes and gives an unbelievable number of POI's. Thanks.

I have the entire 6M POI's in one file for upload to AnandTech to save users time in creating the file using the two RAR files. Do you allow uploads?

I'd sure like to have it, I'm still not able to join the 2 rar files to join, always get a message saying something about wrong pass word that I got here. (either in upper case or lower.
