Who're you pulling for to win the demo/soldier war?

Even though I'm better with demo, I'm doing my best to secure a soldier victory. My opinion:

1. The demo is so incomprehensibly easy to play. And in the hands of skilled players, there's no point in even playing the game.

2. The soldier in my opinion is one of the most difficult to play. They rely on aim rather than luck/the stupidity of other players, only have four rockets, and move too slow. The soldiers health superiority is largely useless due to their speed.

Not meaning to offend any demo players, it's just my opinion.

Also, post your score!

I suck bad, so I've only gotten 3. I typically stick to medic.

Edit 2: it seems tf2stats disagrees with me. It's just my impression that demos are so superior to soldiers, because soldier and demo kills, statistically, are about the same.

Soldier. Mostly cause I hate demos. Not because I think they're easy to play - I'm no good with them, so obviously that one won't hold - but just cause I think they've overpowered, and I'm not at all convinced they earn most of their kills.

By comparison, when I get a rocket to the face, there really doesn't seem much point in arguing the the soldier was better then me.

Oh, and since I mostly play pyro and take a perverse glee in airblasting thing, more soldiers around means more rockets to airblast, at the offending soldiers - or better yet, their medics.

i really hope the noob soldiers would stay home and not logged in as demo meats. the defensive play of demo can easily secure more soldier kills than the other way around. let the pros do their work!!

Soldier. I think he's the most all round useful class and I play him most after Spy.

I just don't enjoy spamming nades as much as actually aiming rockets.

Like I said in the other thread, I'll be playing demo cause I love the class (I guess I'm noob?) and find it a blast to play... but I'm kinda hoping soldiers pull through. Even though I'll hope Demo pulls through. Basically either side will make me happy.

(I am assuming the 4th unlock is going to be a gimmick and useless, so I'm not particularly caring, but if it turns out to be awesome... I'm going to be upset if Demo's don't get it )

Demoman.

Solider is an easy class to play. When I first starting playing TF2 it was the most natural class to me, from my days playing Q3A.

I sucked for a long time with the demoman and never really played it, until I just told myself I'd learn how to play him.

Once I got over the hump with the demoman. It's far and away my favorite class to play.

I still don't really get what is going on with this whole thing. I played for a bit last night and saw the counts going up, but did not pay too much attention.

I'm still holding out hope for an actual class update!

Soldier, as he is right now he's kind of boring to play so he needs all the updates he can get. I've added 5 demo kills, but was killed by 5 demos so it cancels out.

Hm. Really, if you wanted to 'stack' and you weren't exceptional at a class, you'd be better off using the other classes and supporting. IE, if you want soldier to win, you don't go soldier - you go medic, and attach yourself to soldiers. Or go pyro, and hunt demos but don't kill them. Or even apply the principle that the best way to keep soldiers from being killed by demomen is to kill them youself first, and take a non-demo class and aggressively hunt enemy soliders.

It is an actual class update, a double class update in fact, just like the sniper vs spy update.

"Like any other class update, the War update will reveal three new weapons each for the Demoman and Soldier throughout the week, as well as some maps, achievements, and surprises, right up until the day of release, when everything we've been teasing goes live."

I kinda want the soldier to win even though I play the demo much more often... Like you said, the soldier seems inferior due to speed and reload times, I think they need a little extra something to make them more interesting.

Any character in the right hands can be amazing, not just your favourite one.

I generally have a higher death count than kill count, so I think I'm going to stay out of this and just play as another character. I do hope the soldier wins though. Most of my highest scores are with the soldier.

It's not that demo is *just* spamming - honestly, Demo is probably the most overpowered class in the game in typical settings, if played well. Traps, good damage, the only real indirect fire in the game, huge mobility, and he's nowhere near as incompetent at close range as he should be to balance that out.

Unfortunately, the reality is that on typical settings, the demo can just spam and still be very effective. A very badly played demo on a 32 man map can get lots of kill just spamming, and it gets aggravating.
