A teacher asked us once if there was no heaven or hell would we still be Christians. I thought about that real hard for the next 10 years.
Heaven and Hell are what make people christian. When you believe that you will be tortured for eternity if you don't comply it is a strong motivator.
Not true. Many people, I think, aren't sure whether there is a heaven or hell, but they hedge their bets by going to church anyway. But there are many of us who are Christians for reasons beyond that.
