To be truly Christian you have to believe Christ died for you sins and by believing this you can be saved.(John 3:16) You are saved by God's grace not by works.

Reason I don't think catholics subscribe to this:

that x amount of Our Fathers is penance for your sin
7 sacraments
baptism = salvation
say the pope is infalliable
EDIT: They worship Mary and not Jesus = False gods

All this being said I am a Christian

I concur. You are saved by God's grace.

Isn't that the principle behind Lutheranism. YOu dont need to pray through Mary or the pope to reach God or Jesus?

Dont get me wrong though, the pope, John Paul in particular was a spectacular man. His actions and words gave hope and influenced so many lives. A very holy and incredible man; he will be missed. I do not however believe i have to go through him to pray to my God.

Well Mormons and JWs deny that Jesus is god.

Where do you get the idea that Jesus is god?

God is God and Jesus was the son of God.

it's called the trinity. Bible says Jesus is God

Probably a better choice of wording would be:

How many people believe that Jesus Christ died for them, took away their sins, will take them to heaven, and that is the only way to get to heaven

Add me to that category.

Well before leaving the catholic church I was there for the first 18 years of my life. I'd have to say it's a misconception that catholics worship mary. They do however have have regards for her and pray to her to intercede on their behalf to God. But no, i would not say worship.

I agree with you but I'd rather not get into it here.

I agree as well. Not to mention the idolization of Mary.

Ummm... first of all, the Ottomans were Muslim.

Second, the BE came wayyyy after the Armenians, let alone the Greeks.

The Byzantine Empire was based on Greek culture, btw.

...check all this on Wikipedia if you want.

So... modify the poll.

Please, no trolling. If you can't stand "Bible thumpers", just stay out and keep negative comments to yourself. I don't want this thread turning into a flame war and getting locked.
Non-practicing and former Christians feel free to join in.
I guess just give whatever info you want to.

What is a "Christian"?

A self centered God loving person that condemns everything that isn?t Christian?

A person that say, its craps if it is not Catholic?

Or, a person that love others regardless of their religious/non-religious believe?

<-- A bitter atheist that was forced to attend Sunday mass & served as alter boy by my God loving Catholic mother.

I'm a Christian! Woot woot. I actually just got a tattoo on my forearms today. On my left arm it says, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourself." and on my right arm it says, "Do what it says. James 1:22". I'll post some pics when I get a camera (if anyone cares).

Big ups to the pops!

First of all, its Cathlics/Orthodox. Because it all started out as 1, but then the Church St. Sofia seperated from the Church in Italy due to money and greed on both sides.
