Secondly, as other people have mentioned, you either need to add Orthodox on that list or leave off denominations. You can't specify Christians and then leave out the oldest practicing sect

Are you catholic?

I don't think that anyone has the right to call anyone not a Christian. I don't see how anyone could think that Catholics are not Christian. I myself would not even put judgement on other religions like LDS or Jehovah's Witness.

I think the poll needs to be edited to say either Christian or not. By defining who is a Christain and subsequently saying who does or does not get to go to heaven is pretty bold. Unless you are God, I would leave the judging of people's soals up to the Him.

Jesus is mediator for only those in the 'new covenant' (the 144,000)

Jesus was known as the Archangel Michael in his pre-human existence; his birth on earth was accomplished when God transferred Michael's life force from heaven to the womb of the virgin Mary.

The number of Christians going to heaven is limited to precisely 144,000 (the "anointed") where they will rule with Jesus as kings and priests over Earth.

Stolen from wikipedia

There are way weirder ones, but I dunno about the veracity of the sources that wikipedia got them from. Simply put, they don't seem to worship the same religion as us.

I am not saying that thay are the same religion as us, i am just saying that who are we to judge them. I think people get too divided by religion when in fact we are much the same. Even Muslims and Jews pray to the same god as Christians.

jesus did say that one could only go to the father through him. if you are a christian who believes that passage, then it is clear that members of other religions will not go to heaven...

Is it just me is this the classic "I'm a better christian than you," phrase? Switch it up however you want, but it always comes across as "I worship hard than you!"

In other news, the South Park Christian Rock episode is one of the best eps EVAR.

nope. I just take pride in what I do. I drum for the lord.

Please, no trolling. If you can't stand "Bible thumpers", just stay out and keep negative comments to yourself. I don't want this thread turning into a flame war and getting locked.
Non-practicing and former Christians feel free to join in.
I guess just give whatever info you want to.

I'll start.
Been attending a Presbyterian church for pretty much as far as I can remember.

Catholics aren't Christians btw.

I hate people who stand on a street corner and shout at cars telling them that they are going to hell, but I think having a close relationship with God is something to be proud of. It takes a lot of work (but make sure you are humble about it). I am very far from perfect and I wish that i could be a better Christian, but it is tough.

A Christian is someone who claims to accept Jesus Crist and tries to search, study and emulate His teachings both in word and deed.

You might be mistaken in some of your interpretations of His divine teachings. You might have failings in your efforts to follow His example. Being Christian is not a claim of perfect knowledge or perfect actions. It is a claim of acceptance of Christ as Savior, and of trying to learn more and follow His teachings. Disagreements in doctrine or theory or even application, however important to Eternal Life or salvation are irrelevant to one's claim of Discipleship and dedication to Christ.

<--------- I am Mormon, and certainly Christian!

You aren't born into a religion.

LOL

It's by far the most common way to get into one. BY FAR.

That's like saying you're born into a job. It doesn't happen. You have to consciously choose to be a part of a religion or a faith.

I think you and I have different interpretations of the word Christian... christian != all people who believe in Christ, but more Protestant. Some Catholics i called Christians took offense and said they were catholic, while others didn't care. For me, Christians are a branch from Catholicism... and yes, I believe both will go to heaven as they believe inthe core/primary values. Of course, the whole rosemary bead thing doesn't quite do it for me.

if they reject the Nicene Creed... and by doing so, reject that Jesus Christ came down to earth to die for the world's sins... then yes, I believe that they will not be saved...

I know Mormon and JWs will strongly disagree with you for they reject the Holy Trinity and thus the Nicene Creed.
