Filed them yesterday. $4k back from the Fed and owed $81 to the state.

I did mine in Feb. because I was getting a couple thousand bucks back. Yes, I know that it's an interest free loan to the gov't and I should adjust my withholdings so that I get a smaller refund but with interest rates being essentially zero it's just not worth the hassle.

Basically this. I took my refund and stuck it in a savings account.

Seriously? Are you referring to what it turned out for federal? Or are you combining state percent with federal percent with SS, property tax, etc.?

No that's federal. I payed minimal taxes to states. Had to fill out three state returns because I moved last year and they just about cancelled each other out. I had to pay so much because I rented my house and now live in an apartment and don't get the mortgage deduction on my paycheck income anymore, just on the rental income.

Rest assured, I have fixed this for this year. Hopefully I'll be back in the lower teens this year.

Turbotax Online. Did it like a month ago. Got my refund back inside of a week.

I received my refund about 2 weeks ago. I e-filed on a Sunday, and eight days later my refund was deposited in my bank account.

Finished mine in January or February I think, got my small federal refund shortly after, but there was a bug with the website I used to file my state taxes that held things up for a while (every time I submitted my state taxes, they were getting rejected). Once they fixed that, it went through fine.

I owed $23 to the state which I only just paid a couple days ago.

Always get your refunds as early as possible and don't pay in until a few days before it's due.

Filed and e-paid today.
Normally, I get stuff back. I file right after getting all my forms sent to me.

This year I owe. I would have done it next Monday, but I have an interview then. I don't want any distractions.

Turbotaxed while buzzing on ephedrine. I filed that stuff at 4am! Looks like I get close to $2000 back. Yay!

Next year, it might make sense to file as common law with the gf so we can write off a bunch of medical stuff like glasses, prescriptions, etc. The rule in Canada was something like medical expenses need to be a minimum of 3% of gross income before they can be deducted. Things like dental and glasses are expensive even with insurance, but it still falls slightly below that 3% mark. My gf is a full time student with a much lower income, so she would basically pay no taxes at all and have tons of education credits for future years if we put all medical stuff under her name. It would also be interesting to put her education on my taxes because my income is so much higher than hers.

I thought I was. Filed and the next day got a revised statement from Merrill Lynch that required an amended return. Crap. Waited until the original refund arrived (didn't want to put too much on their plate at one time - could confuse them and that means trouble for me) to file the amended return. Now waiting for that additional refund. Here's hoping Merrill Lynch is all through so that I can be all through.

i dealt with that last year, though i didn't get the new w2 to file until mid september so i waited until this tax season and did them all at once, hopefully the interest on that $400 is small
