Thank Gawd no...Northern Kahleeforneeya is supposed to drop into the mid-30's tonight however...and I DID have to scrape my windshield this morning...
I thought the Bay Area was cold...and here I am in upstate NY celebrating mid 30's.
mid 30s isnt cold
when its mid -30s with a NEGATIVE sign in front of it then yea thats cold
you have about 30 degrees to go before its starts to get cold
Nah...living in western Wyoming at 7000 feet and working at 10000+ feet during the winter....THAT'S cold. it got so cold that the equipment had to be left running 24 hours per day or the diesel #1 fuel would gel...the hydraulic and gear oils would get so thick they wouldn't flow.
Everyone had dipstick heaters, block heaters, stick-on heaters for transmissions and differentials, and even battery heaters. While the official record cold for Big Piney is listed at -37F, locals know it gets colder than that. In 1985/86, the water mains froze. We were without water for about 4 days till the city got them thawed out.
Growing up in Spokane, temps regularly dropped to -20 or more in the winter...
My first winter in Kahleeforneeya, I was working on a construction project at one of the local prisons. All the crew was wearing heavy Carhartt work clothes, stocking caps, gloves, etc...and complaining about the cold. me, (having just spent a couple winters in Wyoming, wore a flannel shirt and a light jacket...and called them a bunch of pussies...
Fast forward a couple of years...I started wearing the Carhartts, gloves, and stocking cap...and complaining about the cold... I had become acclimated to the mild weather...in short, I had become Californicated...
