Who's given up Cable TV?

I did. Nothing really wrong with my cable service but the satellite had a few more HD channels and better time shifting. Was a little cheaper too. I'm with Bell TV now.

Apparently Bell Canada is going to be rolling out a FIOS service in the next couple of years. I'd love to be able to jump on that. Quebec City is the first to get it though, not Toronto unfortunately.

How do you watch HBO, Comedy Central and so on without a service like cable, legally? I assume on the air is just regular local broadcast networks?

I cancelled it a few months ago because I realized I only watched cable ~2 hours a week. Haven't missed it much.

It's been with me since I was a kid, and I channel surf more than hell, so I'd miss it too much. Still have it, should for a long time until the rates become unbearable; getting there.

I got rid of cable and switched to Hulu and netflix about a year ago. Now I can watch what I want to watch on my own time and save the money.

I haven't paid for cable/satellite in about 5 years. I have used a computer and tv card to record local tv and used to use Netflix for everything else. I recently canceled Netflix and don't miss it. There just isn't enough stuff I want to watch to make it worth it.

I watch 2-3 shows a week OTA and that is it. I tend to rent quite a few movies, mostly from Redbox now. My costs for media are next to nil. Hulu and the major network websites are awesome. So is syfy.com.

Why waste $800 per year on useless channels?
