AMD didn't make many of these after they started using a 333FSB for 2500+ and above. Almost as rare as a T-Bred B 2800+ @ 2.25Ghz 256K. The Barton 2800+ @ 2.08Ghz replaced this CPU about a month after it was introduced. The Athlon XP 2900+ 512K Barton @ 2.00Ghz 400FSB has to be the rarest XP CPU. I think these were only found in OEM.

Anyone still have a 3400+ 939?

I have one of those critters..only it's a 266fsb model...very very rare, although on most mobo's I can change it to the 333fsb model pretty easily, but it's default setting are 2250mhz 17x133 1.65v

I thought these were only Athlon MP Barton chips w/ 512k?? Isn't 133x17=2267??
...anyway, that's a very rare chip. Where did you find it?

I had a 600mhz Katami core P3 a while ago, that was worth a pretty penny at the time I sold it to buy a P4.

My shop still has one of those in use

I went that route too... way cheaper - did the trick, went from there to the AMD K5-200 and noticed yet another big jump. From there to the classic Celeron300A@450 which lasted ages!

What is pretty rare is the Sempron for 939.... was tempted to get one of those cheap OEM boxes using one then moving to X2 down the road....

I got it through work, it came in with a heap of new AMD AXP 2400+, 2600+ back in late 2002, and it was the odd one out, we had two 2800+'s one was the "regular" 333fsb model (2250, 13.5x166, 256kb) and the other was the one I got, both were OEM, I wasn't sure why we got them but I had a new GA-7VAXP that I could put one on to, so I bought the 266fsb model cause of the higher multiplier...i figured it would work good on a 333fsb, but my 7VAXP refused to let me have a 333fsb so I haven't used it much until I can find a good Gigabyte mobo to stick it on.

I just ran CPU-Z on my setup. It's an ECS mobo/CPU combo deal....

Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2800+
Socket 754
Voltage 0.96

Core speed 800MHz
Multiplier 4x
HTT 200MHz

64k
64k
128k cache

No wonder this thing feels slow! Or is it? Wish I could compare it around... one fella showed his Sempron 3200+ to have 1800MHz vs. my 800!

But the voltage seems low... that would be very low-temp, eh? The included heatsink was a screamer so I voltmodded it to quieten it down. If a cheap 754 Athlon64 would more than double my speed I should consider it!

Quite possibly... downloading the utility now...

Edit: Yep. It's definately a mobile. Automatically throttles the CPU down to 50% when not busy. Weird watching it bounce from 50 to 100% like that....

Anyone wanna' buy this NEATO setup?

PPro 400? You got me there! I thought they only went up to 200MHz. I suppose the P2 is essentially a PPro core, so a P2-400 would be sort of a PPro 400

Typo... they are indeed PPro 200 with 1 mb cache. The 400MHz ones were PII Xeons.

P.S. I have a 8087-2 math co, now that is expensive stuff.
