And you are basing that statement off of what? Edit----The "9800GTX isnt any faster than a GX2" part......not the "I have 8800s in an SLi" part.
Because they have release the specs of the 9800GTX already, and based on the specs it will perform about as well as any overclocked 8800GTS...unless the 9800GTX can overclock much higher.
Originally the 8800GTX's distinctive feature was the 384bit memory interface which was downgraded to 256bit. If nvidia really wanted to wow us, they would release the new 9800GTX with higher clocks all around and a 384bit memory interface...but then it would probably WOULD actually be better than the GX2
Their marketing strategy sucks right now. They won't do anything to undermine their "flagship" product, which is already inferior to two old 8800GTX in SLI. The GX2 is basically 8800GTS SLI, which is basically only infinitesimally better than 8800GT SLI, and not much better than 9600GT SLI. And you have to take into account that the only game any of these differences matter is Crysis. I wouldn't expect them to rock the boat...nvidia likes the way the market is now. AMD is not catching up. How can they be catching up when their cards deliver less performance per watt across the board, except in the low-end market? And I don't even hear a whisper from AMD. Until AMD can up the ante again, don't expect any new benchmarking records from Nvidia cards, that haven't been set already.
