Mach-E replaces the Model 3 for Consumer Reports number 1 EV spot. I agree with the assessment, the vehicle is mature. It puts things that drivers need at their fingertips and doesn't try to get valley bro with its interfaces.

Ford Beats Tesla for Top EV | GreenCars

Production remains a major issue due to chip shortage. Rumor has it that since there's over 10,000 orders for the new E-Transit commercial vans, that they are allocating parts there and away from the Mach-E to fulfill those orders. Ford is also stocking for the F-150 Lightning to begin production in the next 3 months.

I'm happy I got my AWD, Extended Range Premium when I did. You can't buy them anymore. Just...gone. All builds for 2022 are already pre-sold. Guess that means well for the buyout on mine in a couple years

100% agree with this. The Mach-E is imo the best EV available on the market right now. And I bet the F-150 Lightning will be even better!

There are many flooding the market now, but I still love my Mach-E GT. Few things I wish it had, but overall VERY happy with it. I love the frunk, I use it all the time. Not all EV's have one which to me is a big reason to get one. The extra storage, and just easier some times. Walking up to the car and not having to go around to the back to get something in or out, things dont roll around as much if you have something small, keeping dirty things separate, and other reasons.

I love that its not too futuristic. I don't like minimalist designs or over the top ridiculousness. It feels like a normal car. I am just overall very, very happy with it.

2022 models are hard to even order now, chip shortage and other things. They are shipping them without things that are supposed to be there, such as the rear hatch foot opening. There are a few other things but I forget off the top of my head. Just dont have the parts for it. Trade in's are thru the roof as well, you can often times get more than what you paid for it. But that is a double edged sword. There are several "used" (less than 100 miles) Broncos in town, and several well over 80k. One at 89k. They can go fuck themselves with that price, I hope nobody buys them. They're buying new, and selling as used because Ford is trying to not let dealers mark up new vehicles. A year later, I see more Broncos than Mach-E's driving around. Hopefully Ford gets more out there and doesn't lose momentum before the market is flooded with EV's.

Did a few things recently to my GT, here are some pics. Put mud flaps on because my tires stick out so far, tinted the back tail lights. Just hated the white lights, looked terrible with everything else I think. And added Brembo stickers. The GT PE has them already, even though the GT has Brembo they didnt add the stickers/paint. Also added a spoiler on the back. Obviously just for looks. I like all the changes, may change the tint to a standard not the honeycomb pattern down the road. Honeycomb makes it not so dark, but still looks good from afar, not blindlingly white.

How hard were the mud flaps to install? I hadn't thought about them and probably will want to install. My build date has been pushed from Apr 25 (exactly 6 mo from order date) to May 2, so I'm hoping I may have it by July 4th.

Sharp looking color! We have 2 model Ys and I am very, very happy that there are more legit EVs being introduced by other makers.

How do you approach longer trips? Are you limited to 32 amps? How often do you need to juice up going at ~80MPH or so?

I have done a few longer trips and the SuperChargers are a big deal. The 250kW ones are very quick and convinient which make any trip possible.
I use Tesla 48kW at home, 32kW J1772 at other home.

In any case, is it better to charge at very low SOC to get quicker speed or it does not matter with your system?

I do hope Ford will make millions of those cars. It is a great alternative for those who don't dig Tesla.

Nah the Mach-E does DCFC. I think it tops out at around 175 kW for part of the charge profile. Ford changed the profile a couple months ago. The graphs you'll find with the charging rate dropping off a cliff at 80% SOC are out of date. Now it does something like 40 kW to 90% SOC then 20 kW the remainder.

Just watched this. IMO, all boils down to getting more chargers ASAP.

Literally 20 minutes if you did it alone. Very easy, comes with a tool to use to get the pop pins out, and allen wrench for the few screws. My 5 year old helped me, and did most of the work actually do took about an hour. You do not need a jack or anything to lift it, at least not with my rims and tires on it. I mainly got them because my tires stick out so far now. Stock was 9", these are 10.5" with after marker rims too.

At home I have an up to 50a charger. Was limited to lower with the supplied Ford charger, but upgraded to the Chargepoint Flex a while back. Hard wired and charges faster, while showing how many dollars it costs per charge.

I do go over 70 a lot, not usually over 80. I live 11 miles from work so do not travel on interstate much with it. I at home charge 99% of the time. I am home very day, so don't really care about range. The tires and rims lowered my range I have no doubts. The GT has less than other models, about 230. My First Edition would show 350 miles on 100%. We did take it to be beach, about 540 miles. Stopped 3 times each way. Hills of North Carolina used up a lot of the battery. Like it would for gas. We west to Siesta Key last year, and drove her gas car. Was about 800 miles and just too many stops honestly. The range on the GT isn't nearly as good as the other versions. We go to Destin in May, and will probably take her car. But depending on gas prices we may not. I have over 450kwh of free charging still which should get me there and back for free.

I too am glad other EV's are coming out. Tesla has set a high bar, others are trying to follow.

^50 amps is plenty for home. Just finished ~1600 mile round trip to Destin. All worked fine. Charging ranged from 12 to 45 minutes. All suprisingly synced with needed restroom time. I'd do it again. The Model Y was loaded, 4 people, frunk, trunk and sub trunk filled with luggage. It'd not fit into similar size SUV/CUV. The extra storage room is very good.

ChargePoint installed, 40a only because it is plug in. Can do 50a hard-wired, might do that later. As it is, claimed 38 miles per hour charge, over the 21 from the Ford charger. I think hard-wired added 10 more miles per hour according to the manual.

We will probably take her ride to Destin next month. Father in law is going with us, more stuff to bring. And a 5 year old in the car, faster the better. Ticking time bomb. The route we are going, around ATL, and one of the chargers is a LVL 2 only, for an hour and forty five minutes. Going off the in car navigation with charging on the way. Of the three routes it is the least mileage though, others are a good chunk farther. Still have free kwh with Ford though, could get there and back for free like last year. Instead should just stop once, but pay a ton for gas because her ride is a big box.

Long story short, with more EVs every day, we must:

- Standarize the plug.
- Get moar chargers and then get more chargers. Shockingly the 'Rest Areas' had NONE
- Get more charging locations.

Apparently gas stations make next to nothing on selling gas. Gas stations make money on selling food/pop/tickets/food.

We really liked newer stations that had it all, chargers, gas, restrooms, food/drinks.

In that regard, I can imagine some gas station operators loving the idea of EV chargers. That's people stopping for half-hour lunch breaks, not just two-minute refills.

I agree. For most Electrify America LVL 3 chargers on the way to the beach last year, they were at Super Walmarts and Sams. Not always right off the interstate either.

We leave for the beach next week, but drive my wife's gas vehicle instead this year. Even though it would be free for for us driving my Mach-E. But going around ATL (which is a must) one of the charging locations is a LVL 2, and almost 2 hours to charge up. Not worth it for me, so paying several hundred dollars for gas. Would like to drive the Mach-E, but with a 5 year old every hour counts. Like a ticking time bomb.

Tesla was pretty smart in this regard...they have their own plug for all of their vehicles, with upgradable station power for future speed increases, with a nationwide network. Plus charging adapter plugs for 120V, 240V, etc.

Everyone else is all over the map...AC Type 1, AC Type 2, DC CHAdeMo, DC CCS, etc. It would be great if there was a single, infinitely-upgradable charging plug standard, plus a government requirement to have an electric charger at every gas station or something!

I'm on the road a lot & haven't seen any EV chargers at any of the state rest stations yet. Maybe they exist, but I haven't seen them!!

A year ago I would have never expected $6+ dollar a gallon gas. I can't really explain how good it feels to tromp all over Oregon and southern a Washington hauling ass up mountains and the coast on $7 a tank of e-juice.

Man did I get lucky with timing.

Order banks are now open for the MY23 Mach-E! Anyone going to order one? I've been thinking HARD about one for the past 8 months so. Thinking about a GT trim but IDK it's a lot of money for a car.

Anyway, here's a link to the order guide. Lots of changes for the MY23 and of course the price increased dramatically......sigh.

I'm somewhat new to the terminology surrounding the Mach-E. I've read the term options before mentioned by several members on other forums but the meaning of the term "options" and what it means still eludes me.

I think it has something to do with leases but maybe not...? If you have the time could you maybe explain it to me or provide a link?

Ford Options is basically a lease, but they title the car in my name so I got the federal and state credits.

I have a term, rate, mileage limit and buyout price like a lease. But the title work is more like a traditional loan.

Are there any actual changes or are they just jacking up the prices several thousand because they can?
