Finally sacked up and put it on my GNex(was on yakjuux, Canada). Used the toolkit, the manual method was too scary for me.
Couldn't believe how easy it was with the toolkit. Love the new notification drop down, and the voice thing is a cool trick to show off I guess. Pretty similar to ICS without the smoothness, if you're still on ICS you're not missing much.

Tried the AC Syndicate "Are You Jellin" JB ROM as a daily driver on my Sprint GNex after a full wipe. That didn't go so well as the ROM had an unacceptable level of hiccups and other unexpected glitches. While I fully endorse QBKing77's great videos to root the device, the "Are You Jellin" devs seem to be really disorganized (releasing multiple versions with the same filename and then expecting users to know what's new and what's not) and content to blame the user when it's obvious the problems aren't on the user.

On TeamEOS' JB ROM now. That's working much more smoothly for me so far with none of the problems Jellin' gave me.

Anyone try XenonHD yet? Looks like a very promising rom. Has several features from cm9 merged like t9 dialer & volume rocker wake.

They're based off of the cm10 ROM. paranoid android is my favorite. It has a few kinks but its good

Anyone have any recommendations for stable and battery friendly JB ROMs for the GSM Galaxy Nexus? Will be helping a buddy unlock, root and install a custom ROM on his phone this weekend. I could use the solid TeamEOS ROM and Lean kernel combination I have on my Sprint version but I'm not sure that will work as well since the TeamEOS ROM appears to be relatively new on the GSM version.

Other user-friendly tweaks/options such as in AOKP/CM10

This. Also there is one other thing I don't fully understand; most custom roms are "deodexed." Like I said, I don't understand what it entails but the end result is it's much easier to make themes and mods.

Jellybean is so smooth. Everything is more responsive than before. The voice recognition is also a big improvement.

I've gone to liking my Galaxy Nexus (with JB) a lot more than my GS II running stock 4.0.4.
------------

I also can't wait to show JB to my iPhone owning friend who complains to me that Android (even ICS) isn't smooth enough for him, and that the microscopic amount of lag 'bothers him'.

on a Nexus phone that receives unadultered 4.1, what's the benefit of a JB ROM?

Before ICS, stock and custom ROMs were like night and day. Custom ROMs provided more options as noted, ran smoother, and were generally more pleasant to use.

IMO that difference is much reduced with ICS and JB which finally show that Android's GUI is no longer being designed solely by engineers without an eye towards smooth, intuitive operation.

I'm running ICS still on my gnex. I like Slim ICS (found over at XDA). I've been a fan of krarvind's work since the SGS days.
Once his JB build stabilizes I'll make the switch. In no hurry right now.

Today I am at 8 hours on battery at 85%.

I'm running 4.1.1 on my GS3 now with AOKP and damn it's insanely smooth, previous JB roms for the GS3 didn't have the UI enhancements working right yet so they weren't a huge improvement over ICS. I almost returned this phone to get a nexus but I'm glad I kept it considering the insane dev support it has.

Think the most stock/vanilla are Jelly Belly (rootz only) and Bugless. I'm waiting for them to incorporate the new Google binaries for toro though.

What phones should I look at if i wanted to flash to a JB rom? Ideally, I want the ATT Galaxy Nexus but if i can find a phone that's cheaper and can get me a JB rom, i'd be just as happy.

Stupid Atrix 2.

Yeah, I saw that. I'd have flashed but Titanium has decided to go tits-up (claims not to be able to get root) since I last used it. Ugh, this may mean I have to switch back to Superuser and its endless fake root access message loops (which SuperSU had thankfully solved).

mROM is another basically-stock option.

the international sgs3 or gnex are your best bets.

If you're looking for a cheap phone then the galaxy nexus is your best bet at this point. If you're on ATT you're going to have to buy an unlocked international one anyway if they launch a new one and then that will run you around 600$ or more.
