Thanks for the info. I'll wait for 3.4 then. Curious - if I wipe data, cache, system, will this wipe the SD partition as well? If it does and I have Titanium Backup, what's the process? Copy all of it to my computer then after the 3.4 flash, copy all of it back then restore?

I am on Vanir v7. Why are you switching to Jelly Belly? When is 3.4 expected to drop?

Vanirbean (former name) is based on leaked nandroid images of the Galaxy Nexuses given to developers at GoogleIO.

New roms are all being built from source (released Monday). Word is they're a bit smoother than the old ones.

That said, I've had no problems at all with the initial leaked rom (Team Liquid Vicious V1) so I'll stick with it for now and give the devs a few days to maybe roll a few fixes in. There's some sort of GPS issue that I don't quite understand, and the fix might mess with deep sleep. I don't know.

Heck I might just wait for CM10 or a JB-based AOKP.

Nope it won't wipe your SD partition. If you want to be extra safe though, back up all your user apps, then move your Titanium Backup folder over to your computer. If something goes wrong and you have to wipe out everything, you still have a backup.

Your sdcard will be untouched if you wipe just those 3. No need to worry.

I can't compare with other 4.1.1 based ROMs, but the Bugless Beast nightly is definitely smoother than the non-4.1.1 based Vicious ROM.

What is "Run Fix Permissions" mean on Jelly Belly?

Edit: Oh, I am guessing it's the command in Clockwork Mod

I did a clean install of v3.4 JellyBean. Everything seems good but when I go into Titanium Backup, it tells me my Android ID has changed, I choose to restore it. I do this like 2 more times because I am seeing things like pushing an install from the web (Play Store) doesn't work. I click install and my device never gets it. Now I am confused and don't know what my "proper" Android ID is. Is there any way to tell?

P.S. VanirBean v7 clean install on top of AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich did not mess with my Android ID at all.

I don't really use titanium much but one thing I noticed when I switched to jelly bean 3.4 is that when I went to the google play site to start installing my apps, they showed as "already installed" and were greyed out and I was unable to push them from the site.
Not sure what would cause this but I got around it by just doing it on the phone.

That's a similar but separate issue. Would you mind trying this - Go to the Play store from your desktop and click install on any new app or game you don't have. Tell me if your GN gets it.

Yeah it works. I"m not sure what caused that initially but it's fine now. When you look at your devices on play store it wasn't showing my new "device" being registered on 7/12 however i just looked and my phone was registered on 7/13 so everything is fine now. I even uninstalled the app and tried it again and the site recognized that I had uninstalled it on my phone.

I can only attribute it to going from a hacked up ROM to an AOSP 4.1.1 since I've never seen this before.

The Play Store on my device works. I can install apps just fine. When I go to the Play Store online, it knows I have a Google Nexus but it's acting like it's the same one I've had all along - which is what I want. Why did your GN register as a "new" device? I wonder if Jelly Belly ROM purposely erases or sets a new Device/Android ID?

I am in Berlin at the moment but when I logged my phone into the hotel wifi this morning I was notified that my galaxy nexus was ready for updating. The process took less than 5 minutes from start to finish.

Overall I have just noticed an overall improvement in across the board speed and responsiveness. And of course a few minor tweaks.

Well going from a hacked ROM to a AOSP ROM might have caused that. I've never done something like that in the past since it's usually been stock -> custom ROM and then between ROM's.

All I know is everything is working fine now in regards to the Play store site and pushing apps. Also, Jelly Bean 3.5 is out with new 7/14 gapps and it's smoothed out some of the lag I was having.

I saw. And I honestly don't care much

As long as its smooth I'm fine.

Good for you. But I found the official Google changelog info useful and learned some new info and features I didn't know before. Perhaps others will find the same.

Anyone A/B Jelly Belly and Bugless? These seem the cleanest options on VZ at the moment...

I'm using the first JB Bugless that Pete did after AOSP dropped. Very smooth. Only issue I had was Youtube force closing when adjusting volume, but there was a link to a new apk in the thread on rootzwiki that took care of that.

I do have another issue that seems common across all JB roms for quite a few people. The option to say "Google" to wake up Google Now just randomly disappears. If you go into Settings>Voice from Google Now, the "Hotword" option is just gone. A reboot brings it back, but it eventually disappears again.

Jelly Belly 3.6 is awesome. I just flash a few extra mods (battery icon/extended power menu) since the ROM is trying to stay "stock".
