I just ordered a 32GB wifi model. Looks like it won't ship until the 20 November despite saying 1-3 business days.

Regarding ship times...

In a bit of a surprise move, the Apple Store began accepting orders for the iPad Mini Retina at midnight Monday after word of the tablet's impending launch leaked out in an internal notification intended for support technicians and resellers.
Wi-Fi-only versions sporting 16GB and 32GB of storage are expected to ship to buyers in one to three business days, while the 64GB and 128GB versions list shipping expectations of five to 10 business days. Versions with cellular connectivity are also expected to ship in five to 10 days.

Ended up getting one for myself wifi only. Yeah cellular and 64GB+ is taking longer to ship.

Ordered two 16GB wifi for the gf and myself. I will enjoy reading on it for sure. Also upgraded the shipping for $15, says Nov 20-22... I hope it's a conservative estimate and it comes sooner.

I probably will end up with one. My GF has a 64gb iPad 4 (which I bought a few weeks before the Apple event was announced), and she doesn't want to trade it in for an Air. I like the form factor of the Mini, but the price seems a bit high. If it was the price of the original Mini, I'd buy it right now.

I think Apple going away from the "we only have a few models" to this "we have 4 different models of each product now!" is not helping them much.

Many Apple stores now have stock for in-store pickup if you order online. Based on what I've been reading, availability increases as you move eastward in the US.

I got my white iPad mini with Retina 32GB today. Ordered it this afternoon from the Apple Store and was able to pick it up 15 minutes later. Still eagerly waiting for all my apps to restore.

And I returned my iPad Air I bought less than 2 weeks ago. And that was an upgrade from my iPad 4. I really liked the Air, definitely a lot more comfortable than the iPad 4. But I still wanted something smaller. I really love smaller tablets like the Nexus 7.

Got my retina Mini an hour ago. Even though it wasn't quite perfect* I returned my Air immediately afterwards. The size is just perfect of rme.

*Colors on my model and the in-store models are less saturated than my 5s and Air. Wouldn't say it's wrong (I'll let Anand decide), but it's definitely different. There's also a bit of non-uniformity in the whites, but maybe that can be resolved with burn in.

Is anyone else tempted by Walmart's BF ad iPad Mini $299 - $100 GC = $199. Of course it's probably a 1st generation, non-retina but HALF the price for a brand new iPad mini? Would be great assuming you can order online without standing in line with 300+ other crazy people.

Why wait for the next Nexus when the 2nd gen just came out? Target is doing $75 off, not $100. It is a good deal for last gen, but I need retina and the improved performance.

I paid full price (god I hate saying that) because I believed Tim Cook when he said the retina was going to be in short supply. I have this feeling Apple is counting on people to buy the non retina or the Air because of supply constraints of the retina Mini this holiday season.

Personally I would not pay $199 for the original iPad mini. At that price it is a reasonable deal, but not reasonable enough. I'd rather pay much more for a refurb Retina mini in a few months.

However, I prefer the Air.

I am definitely not paying the premium for 128 or 64GB storage on either... i just don't feel it's logical to spend $600-800 on a 7.x" tablet.

I think Apple has gone kinda crazy with the storage prices. Now that they have 128GB versions, they should start at 32GB or just drop the price $100. It's ridiculous to charge $929 for an ARM Tablet, and what happens when 256GB comes out? Are they gonna charge $1029 for a 256GB LTE iPad air?

Anybody with iPad Mini 2 owner, how is your display? Can you check for bookspine dark spots, yellow tints on the left side of screen from portrait mode, light bleeds, etc? iPad Air has this issues (except for light bleeds) but want to know how the Mini 2's are. To do this, set your background screen to all black and then try it with all white. PLEASE DO SHARE THANKS.

I don't keep music or movies on my iPad so 16GB is just fine for me.
