I'm waiting on the Black Friday Target deal. I want the 16gb LTE. If I can't get one from Target online, I will order from Apple through Shopdiscover. 10% cash back is acceptable alternative if I can't get in on the Target BF deal.

Are you guys afraid to find out if the iPad Mini 2 screens have flaws (uneven tints, dark spots, etc) so you are not inspecting for the problem? C'mon now.. Don't be a WIMP. Take it like a man! Let it out brotha. Let it out.... tell me how your screen is.

thanks,

I will wait for some good reviews.

I'm not seeing the $75 Target gift card applicable to the new mini. It refers to all iPad mini's......nothing about the iPad mini with retina display's.

I imagine there will be no discount on this thing till after Xmas.

I got my retina iPad mini last night and I love it. I previously had every iPad up to now with the exception of the 4th gen and I honestly have no complaints. I have seen a lot of complaints about the screen being yellow, washed out, muted but honestly, it doesn't seem like I'm affected by any of these at all. It seems most of the complaints are from people that are using more than 1 iPad side by side.

I know they can only do so much through software, but Apple has patched their devices and changed the color gamut/color calibration before so we'll see I guess. In the meantime I'm completely satisfied.

Is it right to assume it's going to be hard to get that ipad deal at target--it will be sold out? If not I'd buy an air no doubt. I am thinking about it anyway but a gift card sweetens it.

I got the $200 trade-in deal for my old iPad at Target. They told me I would be lucky to find an Air by Christmas. I'm not sure if the Mini deal will be like that or not, but getting in early is probably important.

Got mine today. Very nice little device.
Compared to my Nexus 7 (2013), the first observations are:

- Retina Mini looks nicer and has the higher quality feel, N7 feels nicer in the hand, especiall when you hold it in one hand
- Retina Mini is better for reading fixed format PDFs and browsing (due to 4:3 screen format)
- N7 has better screen quality (retina Mini's screen is not bad at all and has the better format, but the N7's colors are more vibrant in direct comparison)
- N7 is better for reading ebooks that don't have a fixed format like Kindle, epub (more comfortable to hold, screen is somewhat clearer to read)
- Retina Mini is FAST! N7 is no slouch, but the way websites pop up on the Minis just like bam and they're there is something I'm not used to on mobile devices.

Overall, I'd say the retina Mini is the better and more versatile tablet, and if I had to buy only one tablet, It would be the Mini. N7 still is a great alternative with an amazing screen but for me the 4:3 screen format and the (IMO) better app quality are the difference makers.

Also, I was kinda unsure between the Air and the Mini, but I'm glad that I got the mini because (for me) it's still big enough to read everything on the smaller screen while being much more portable.

I now have two units. One has a slight color shift between the top half and bottom half, and it also has a faint shadow right under the front camera.

I'm obviously returning the bad one, but both are less saturated than the Air and 5s, so I'm now 100% sure "gamutgate" is by design.

Edit: Color pains aside, I'm enjoying the Mini much, much more than my (returned) Air.

I'm looking for the perfect device for web browsing and light game playing, if those are my only priorities which would you recommend and why?

I don't care about rooting or jail breaking.

Web browsing - imo, Mini wins because of 4:3 format which is much better in vertical orientation (which I use most of the time). Plus, browsing on the Mini is _fast_. Mini seems to reload tabs more often, but I don't care about that.

Gaming: don't game much on tablets, but I guess that comes down to software selection / quality where the iPad probably wins. The Mini's speed could be another plus.

So, I'd lean towards the iPad Mini but you can't really go wrong with either device. If money is the deciding factor for you, the N7 will be a good choice, too.

Ordered my iPad Mini with Retina Display this morning. Looking forward to using it during my morning toilet sessions, when I read about my mayor Rob Ford and do my internet marketing.
