Who's Overclocked a 2800+ 754??

Well, I upgraded my budget rig to a new budget rig because I stumbled across a deal that I couldn't pass up. Well, the cpu that I am getting is an AMD 64 2800+ Newcastle and I was just curious as to what overclocking abilities this chip has. I know that every chip is different, but I'm just hoping that some people on these boards have some information to share about what clocks they achieved and such. Any help would be appreciated. Btw, please post the mobo that you guys used as well.

It's an old core on 130nm - they don't overclock well - you may get over 2.0Ghz but you also may not even get that. You're better getting a Sempron 64 3100+ and overclocking the hell out of it.

I got 2.2 on mine. You need better cooling to cool these chips, as they run pretty hot. Your better off with a 754 venice imo.

I was able to pull 2200-2250ish on the supposedly ****** AP core using an Epox board. I was delighted. The AR you are getting would likely do better.

Got mine to 2.4Ghz, 300HHT, at default volt. And from my experiments it's my board that can't go stable higher than 300. Otherwise this CPU should go bit higher. Srry mine is E6 not Newcat.

I still have a Newcastle 2800+. Mine can do 2.4GHz at default vcore, and can POST at 2.7GHz. I've tested for stability at 2.5GHz but haven't tried between 2.5-2.7GHz. Left it at 2.4GHz because of default vcore. Results were from an Epox EP-8KDA3I. A Chaintech VNF3-250 wouldn't POST at 2.7GHz but seemed to run okay at 2.4GHz.

I think I kind of lucked out on this CPU since it seems most people can't get as high clocks.

Thanks guys. I hope mine can get somewhere around 250 fsb . I got the cpu and an X800XL for 150$ anyways, so I'm not complaining .

That's an excellent price... halfway decent for the video card itself so almost like getting the CPU for free.

My 2800+ Newcastle can do 2.34GHz max with a bump in voltage to 1.575 - not Prime95 stable beyond that. I routinely run HTT=3, 290x8 = 2.32GHz, with the 2/3 mem divider (~193MHz) 2x512MB Corsair 3200LL, Asus K8N (Nforce3 250 board) with a Zalman CNPC7000B-Cu cooler.
