Who's picking up a PSVita at launch?

We're a little over a month away from the PSVita's launch. Anyway picking one up on launch?

I'm really on the fence about getting one. It's a powerhouse of a system but $250 is a lot to spend on a portable that doesn't come with anything. There's a bundle going for $300 that includes Little Deviants and a 4gb memory card.

Think that bundle is actualy $350. I have around $280 left on a Visa gift card from XMas, so I went ahead and pre-ordered the $250 base model on Amazon with it, mainly just because I want to play Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

So yeah, I guess I'm getting one at launch .

I don't have a commute where I could use this, so it's competing against my PC, PS3 and 360 for gaming time. Even if I wasn't currently a Star Wars TOR addict I have piles of unplayed games already.

I can't imagine buying this at launch. It's so overpriced, not to mention the accessories. I thought I was getting screwed buying a 4GB microSD from Best Buy for $15 (I couldn't wait to have it shipped), but the Vita's memory cards make that look like a good deal.

What I'm wondering is how many more portable gaming systems have to flop before the segment disappears entirely or changes into something completely different? I thought the 3DS was bad but the Vita is going to make it look like a huge success by comparison.

I've got one, an 8GB card and Lumines pre-ordered through Amazon. I may upgrade to a 16GB card given how large Vita games can be. Amusingly enough, I get the latter two released a week ahead of my non-bundle Vita.

On a side note, I hope Sony doesn't do this inane pre-release junk again.

I'd love to have one at launch, but most likely won't buy one until later this year. The system looks awesome, I think the price is great, and the launch software actually looks pretty good. I'm curious to see how/if it will be supported a year from now, though.

I said yes but there is a chance that I might wait to see how it sells and if the price settles like the 3DS. I am not getting zapped again like I did the 3DS. (was for my Fiancee and yes I love her) lol

The 3DS price drop has helped it a lot. It's selling pretty good now.

I'm definitely going to wait a few months after the Vita is released to decide to jump on one.

I also have a crapton of games on my PSN account, over half of those I got for free being a PSN Plus subscriber, and I know at least some of those will run on the Vita, which will be cool.

I'm hoping being a Plus subscriber will carry over to the Vita and I'll get some cool discounts on the store because of that.

But mainly I just want to play Uncharted:GA, and I had a XMas Visa gift card that covered the price of it for me, so I'm in. It was either do this or use up the gift card on gas and Java Monsters. Might as well get something substantial out of it.

A sort of off topic question about PSN+. I have a 30-day thing for it, and if I get a game for free, and my PSN+ subscription ends, do I get to keep it? I sometimes check the store and I've seen them put a few games up for free for PSN+ members, but I have no idea if it'll even be usable.

Having a Mario platformer and a Mario Kart really helps, as well. It's hard to say how much of it is the price drop and how much is that there's finally some decent software for it. Nobody wants hardware that has no games.

I wont. I find the price of the system itself to be very fair. The price of the games and memory cards, no thanks...that is highway robbery, at least in respect to the memory card prices.

Game prices seem to be in a bit of flux. Uncharted got raised to $50 at Amazon, but a few others were lowered to $30.

Lumines is $40, but I'd gladly pay it... and hope that it's good (i.e. more like Lumines 1 than Lumines-full-of-shitty-top-40s-music-2), or else I'll be pissed!

About the peripherals, I have a feeling that they're losing money on each PSV and making it up with some crazy mark-up. 32GB cards only cost ~$50 for a SDHC variant, but the PSV card is $100.

I was going to day 1 it but I dunno now. Not that impressed with most of the games right at release. There are some coming out a bit later that I want. I don't think it is going to be successful so maybe I'll just wait for a price drop. If they'd announce a Monster Hunter, I'd be all over it.

I think the system hardware is a bargain. I want to buy one just for the hardware. But I have very little interest in gaming. So I will wait til the system has some interesting hacks.

3DS only sold because of the price drop. I bought one for my daughter for Christmas for $120 new from Target. Bestbuy and Walmart ran similar promotions.

Oh yeah, and an iPad cost like $600 after tax no? With those $600, you can buy a Wi-Fi Vita and get around 8-9 games @ $40/pop

Nope, once your PSN+ is up, you lose access to the game.

I'd say that the Vita has one of the best launch line ups in over a decade, an Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Mod Nation Racers, Lumines, Wipeout 2048, Little Deviants, all look to be pretty top tier titles. Those are just the ones I'm interested in tho.

I think Uncharted: GA will move units for Sony tho in the U.S. It's definitely the primary reason I'm buying one.
