Some douchebag named gmacd1177 came in and started destroying shit, banned him pretty quickly. Hopefully that kind of stuff stays to a minimum.

I watched the first 3 videos last night, and now I want to buy the game. I just know that I don't have any time to actually play it though.

You'll enjoy it!

And you 12 dollars will actually go to a someone thats trying to create something a bit different from the rest.

I stumbled upon this image recently and it got me interested in this game! It looks like fun and I've got plenty of spare time as of late!

I bought this with the recommendation of a friend and man... it's boring. I really didn't give it a fair shot but after playing Civ 5 for the past few nights, I'm just not "getting" Minecraft .

Guess I can always comeback to it since I already bought it. :\

That game is strange, I can see why not everyone would like it. If I had to describe it simply, I'd say it was like playing legos on your computer.

Is there a way to pick up things like furnances and workbenches after they've been placed?

That is a pretty awesome story- probably just a hoax. Definately not his dead brother playing. Would be pretty cool if they just coded in a phantom player like that...that occasionally popped up at the edge of your rendering distance.

I think you need to use a pickaxe on furnaces, since they're made of stone.

Anything works for trunks and workbenches though.

I believe that's on the list of to-dos.

This is one of those "creepypasta" stories you find on 4chan. They're not real, but they're fun to read and can definitely creep you out a little.

had a ton of fun last night. got spawned in the water, and had to swim out to land and get my bearings. i was surrounded by massive towers made by people who had been playing on the server for a while. i decided to just set off in a random direction until i found a mountain for myself, which I did. i set to work digging a mining shaft all the way to the bottom of the platform. once that was done, i put up a few walls, and then decided to go exploring. I found a small cave nearby, and started digging, armed with 12 pickaxes. i dug, and i dug, and i dug, finding branch after branch, huge cavern after huge cavern. i lit the entire way with torches so i'd know the way back up. after maybe 10 minutes of digging, i started to hear the sound of water, so I dug towards it. i broke through a wall into a very, very depe underground cavern...the bottom of it was pitch black from lack of light. and just at my level, was a gigantic underground waterfall, descending into the darkness. I knew i had to find a way down there.

so, i carefully dug a ledge around and down the waterfall, making sure to leave single height jumps so I could get back up. it was probably 150-200 blocks to the bottom. when I reached the bottom, i saw the water flowing into a pool of lava, and knew i'd reached the bottom of the map. I proceeded to dig around for minerals, and found a ton of redstone, iron, and 5 blocks of diamond. after exploring a bit, i decided to find my way back up.

when I reached the top of the waterfall, i wanted to mark my spot, and the route back to the waterfall. So, i pulled out my workbench ( i carry one with me everywhere) and made several signs, which which I marked the route to take to the waterfall, as I made my way back to the surface. I also marked the entrance to the cave with a bunch of signs, torches, and a tall lit tower .

After that, I decided to head back towards the starting area to find some other players. there were two guys, poopsmcgee and the amazing bic who i'd been chatting with, and who apparently had a sweet fort. i'd been unable to find it though. eventually, i found the entrance to an underwater glass tunnel they had built, and followed it way, way out into the ocean to the island where they built their fort. it took around 3 minutes to get there. once there, i helped poopsmcgee finish a giant wall he was building (apparently the amazing bic is going to paint an 8bit mural on it).

then I watched lessthandan dive off the top of his building at sunlight, which was anticlimactic.

after that I headed down to explore their fort's main mining area, which was HUGE. mcgee said it took 3 guys 3 days to clear it out. the main room is larger than the draw distance (i couldn't see the opposite wall)

needless to say, this game is AWESOME.

Yep, still the same. Whenever I reboot my router, Qwest changes it, but I keep updating the DynDNS information. Going to look into getting a static IP this week sometime.

i believe dyndns has a tray app that will auto update it for you

Sweet. I logged on last night for about 20 mins, and just started gathering some materials. Looking forward to some more playing time, but the game's definitely way better in multiplayer. It's pretty cool to see what everyone else is building, and multiple people being able to work on the same project.

This is awesome. I need to go on some more epic mining expeditions. I've only come across redstone, which I don't even have the proper tools to harvest, and it would be even cooler if I could find diamonds too.

Yeah you'll find a bunch of everything in the really really big caverns. It's much much easier than digging an entire mine by yourself, because the caves will have exposed ores/etc periodically. In my first couple of single player games, it was slow going. But then I finally found a big cavern, and lo and behold, my iron problem went away. I started a third game, and found a cavern that just doesn't seem to end...every time I finish exploring 1 branch, I find another 2-3 branches that are even bigger.

It does start to get boring solo, though.

i plan on going back down there and looking some more. i really want iron to make lots of steel for tracks.

if the at server is going to be around for a while, it would be sweet to have a central station at the spawn point to get to different peoples' houses. would take forever though

also...you have a 30 story tower, but no steel pickaxe to mine redstone with?
