God, that place is ridiculous. I mean, truly ridiculous, and I just decided to construct a 1:1 Los Angeles Class 688i attack submarine. I will fudge it a little bit. The 688i has a 10m beam and draft, but mine will be 11m. Makes it easier to bring the tail to a point, as well as the conning tower.

What I haven't decided on is whether or not to make half of it glass so it is like a cutaway.

A 1:1 Nimitz would also be hot, but I don't know how feasible that is, it is about 340m long, so you probably wouldn't even be able to see it from end to end.

Here’s the status:

* Send attack network data: DONE
* Add the ability to attack other entities: DONE
* Implement falling damage: NOT STARTED
* Implement respawning for dead players: PARTIALLY DONE (there are bugs with the player keeping the current location in some circumstances instead )
* Make eating food regenerate health: DONE
* Send health updates to the players: DONE

The “attack entities” code is done on a general level, so you can hurt animals, monsters, boats, carts and even other players.

There are a couple of other tweaks in the next update as well:

* Fix leaves. Again: DONE
* Optimize the lighting update slowdowns: STARTED
* Make players riding carts or boats a long way receive terrain updates: DONE
* Fix the block re-spawning bug: NOT STARTED
* Add “pvp” toggle flag to the server settings: NOT STARTED.

Ive been playing this for maybe 3 weeks and I'm completely addicted. I work in an IT dept and we actually set up a server in the dept so myself, and 2 other co workers can play at lunch. Weve build HUGE towers and complexes, connected with skybridges, created just enormous lava falls, etc etc. This game is just incredible, and has amazing potential for its finished state. I cannot wait.

Of course a lot of it is common sense; don't mess with players' buildings, don't take their stuff, etc. But some of it is less obvious, for example is it OK to enter other people's buildings/tunnels and check them out or is that considered rude?

My understanding is that entering their places is just fine, just don't take or change anything.

Me personally, since I went so far from the spawn point to build my stuff, I would have liked it if no one had put anything within sight of my stuff... but that is just me.

I don't see how entering people's places would be a problem. I've been all over people's places in Krakn's server. And I often check out what's in their chests.

So the SMP health patch is out! Apparently bows and arrows don't work though? I thought they've always worked just you couldn't hurt anything so it didn't matter.

I wish though there was a way to turn off damage. Because to me, if you turn off monsters, then I don't want any damage. I want it just for building, like it's always been. Otherwise I want monsters & health/damage. Currently it looks like there's only flags to toggle PVP, monsters, and neutral animals.

Definitely want to check this out though. Will you be spawning monsters Krakn?

I figured as much, but just thought I'd ask to make sure. Being a Minecraft noob it's kind of useful to explore and check out how other people have built stuff, what kind of things you can craft in the game, etc.

And yeah, the new update sounds kind of weird. So now there's fall damage as well? Sounds like more of an annoyance than anything else, was nice just being able to concentrate on building in multiplayer and not have to worry about mobs, damage, etc.

Anyway, tried to build a floating island thing. Not 100% pleased with it, but it mostly turned out like I wanted. Now trying to find out the best way to get up to it and down from it, though, haha. Just kind of started building, didn't really think this through. Should have sat down and planned this stuff out ahead of time.

edit: Ugh, this is just a mess. Keep getting killed (by mobs I'd assume), but for some reason I can't see them, maybe due to my laggy connection. Can't get back to my place to craft a sword and attempt to fight back before nightfall and getting killed again. Creepers are blowing up and causing damage to roads. etc.

My single player game has disappeared. My computer crashed, and when I rebooted my saved game was no longer available to play. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so did you manage to fix it?

you probably have a corrupt savegame.
first step go to %appdata%/.minecraft/saves and copy the world folder that got corrupted (as a precaution)

Then I would suggest starting a new game over the existing world, you will end up in a different place, but existing chunks will still exist.
You might be able to use some savegame editors to set the seed and position values to your old save values.

This info might be out of date, check the minecraft forums for some more up to date stuff.

I turned the mobs off and installed a mod which regenerates health quickly if you don't die instantly.

I might turn the mobs back on but keep the creepers from exploding, haven't decided yet.

Yeah I found that yesterday. This creeper was outside my door so I kept hitting him but he wouldn't die. Then later another one was outside and I hit him a few times then he exploded even though I was nowhere near him. I don't know if it was lag or not but pretty much going to be difficult to really fight any guys, especially since the bow doesn't work.

Yeah. I don't have a Paypal account so I used the alt payment method, which incurred a $.35 international fee through my bank. I would like to think I have saved that millions of times over by never using paypal, but the bottom line is that you can get the game without being ripped off.

I have totally given up trying to explain this game to anybody. Shame it doesn't run on my netbook, seeing as that is my only computer, but I like to think that the game will be much better when I have a computer that will run it. Maybe Java will be gone too!

It would be pretty cool, but the Apache web server stuff is a bit above my head I think. If someone who understands how to set it up could help me out, I definitely wouldn't be opposed to setting up a site like this.

Is your server running linux yet? If so I can take a whack at it.

Edit: The included script with c10t makes it really easy, as long as you have all the required packages installed.
