I'm not gonna build any skybridges this time. I agree that tunnels are neater, and they're not as much of an eyesore as some ugly boardwalk going across the sky. Let's keep it pretty this time.

i didn't mind them for the convenience but they ended up clouding the skyline on the old world.

I don't mean to take away people from Krakn's server, but I have one going now. It's a hosted, 24/7 server. New players spawn in a massive glass box but they can't leave until they've been approved. They can still build and mine in the area though and it takes a few minutes to walk from one end to the other, so there is plenty to do. I wanted to build a spawn that didn't trap anyone but didn't let griefers enter the city. I wanted them to be able to get started gathering supplies before they got approved.

It's also more of a construction server. No mobs, animals, etc. I've flatten a large area to build a city and made many plots for people to build. They can still build in the forest, but I'd like the main buildings to be in the city so they get moved if I ever have to move the city to a new map.

I'm paying $26.5 a month for 1 GB and McMyAdmin. I like them a lot so far. I had issues installing stuff and just bothering them with the support tickets in general, but they replied back quickly.

I built a portal today, and it doesn't work. I just stand in it and nothing happens. Is the nether turned off or something?

I don't think the nether has yet to work/be enabled in multiplayer.

Anyway I see quite a few new constructions in the area but I don't see many people on when I log in. I usually jump on for an hour or so every other day roughly. The whole monsters and damage make building a lot harder but I think I like the current setup on the server better.

But yeah, log on all!

Hahah, don't worry. Minecraft has nowhere near the difficult learning-curve of Dwarf Fortress; it's much more approachable and fun, IMO.

I used to play a lot, but I liked the creation part of it. Having damage (specifically fall damage) is a huge issue for what I liked about minecraft.

But we all like different parts about the game which isn't a bad thing. I'll just have to move on to another server or play on my own creation games.

i agree i liked it better without the fall damage. also there are just TOO MANY monsters. it would be cool if there were fewer. right now you can see 30-40 creepers if you look around from a tower at night

There should be a mod where you can toggle stuff like that and it only affect you. Not monsters and stuff that affects everybody, but if I want no fall damage it'd be nice to have a command for it. Just type /falldamage and it'll go on or off for you. Then I wouldn't have a problem. But this all or nothing stuff really just forces people in or out of the server depending on what they're looking for in the game.

I haven't built a tower yet in any of my games, but I think it is a good idea. I just like tunneling, and building an underground fortress. The tower is a great idea for looking out over the world though. Maybe I will build one over my underground fortress.

I like the city, it looks like a game of Sim City to be honest. It would be fun to make a regular office building, although as plain as those are I couldn't imagine making more than one.

Upon looking at this site, I'm not sure if I'm more worried that some people make it seem like it's really the devil's work, or that people spent that much time making this satire.

But yeah, started playing Minecraft last night on a friend's server, kept going until 5AM. Not counting my all-night Prototype marathon, haven't done that in a while. It's quite the game. It has a lot of appeal in the potential construction despite its simplicity...not all games need to have cutting-edge graphics.

Rockyct; is your server 'traditional' in the sense that all buildings need to be made from mined materials, or do admins regularly give out items to players?
