Walmart/Target doesn't do commercials and tons of marketing campaigns for their clearance items.... They put them on a shelf named clearance and put a 15-30-50-75% price cut on it (depending on how long it hasn't been sold).

How often does Amazon actually advertise compared to big box?

Yeah, they did a 2 day advertising blitz for this compared to next to nothing for the rest of the year. I'd say they got their money's worth on their clearance sale.

Amazon brags about how much "shit" it sold:

56,000 Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy sets
47,000 Televisions sold, which was 1300% year-over-year growth
51,000 Bose Headphones, compared to 8 the previous Wednesday
28,000 Rubbermaid 42-Piece Easy Find Lid Food Storage Sets, compared to 428 the previous Wednesday
24,000 Instant Pot 7-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cookers, compared to 182 the previous Wednesday
14,000 iRobot Roomba 595 Pet Vacuum Cleaning Robots, compared to 1 the previous Wednesday
12,000 Fifty Shades of Grey Unrated Edition on Blu-ray, compared to 121 the previous Wednesday
10,000 Meguiar’s X2020 Supreme Shine Microfiber Towels, compared to 244 the previous Wednesday

Before the sale ended, I took advantage of the 30% off luggage for some travel-related items I've been wanting for a while (small things like squeeze tubes, packing cubes, etc). That was a lot more useful to me than the rest of the "sale".

I almost fell for the tupperware but I'm trying to get RID of all my plastic storage and move to all glass. I need more of the square storage containers

24 thousand Instant Pots, and I didn't get one. Screw that.

Oh well, at least my new tent will be here tomorrow. The door handle and candelabra light bulb won't make it til Saturday.

Haha... I did Should be here today

I also bought the Scaleblaster water conditioner. Was a good price and sounds like it'll help my limescale problem.

For as poor as the sale was, the few things I bought were kind of pricey so I still spent quite a bit.

Same here actually... Slowly but surely the plastic ones get a crack or two in them magically (When, I have no idea).

I'm loving my glass Snapware replacements. Now I just want all the plastic ones to break because it takes up too much space.

Bodybuilding.com has always been my source for anything of that nature.... They tend to have pretty good prices. They always have a 15% off coupon somewhere as well.

Uhh, there's no 15% coupon for bodybuilding. All I'm seeing is a $5 off 100 (lol), and a one time use 10% off for signing up to get their emails.

So the point is that the amazon sale was 3-6X anything bodybuilding can offer right now.

I hate you!

I knew about it because it was posted in this thread, so I also had the product page open. ...oh, well, I had the page open for the 50" TV, not the 49" (seriously--who the fuck produces a 49" TV...especially if they make a 50" TV? This makes no sense)

Anyway, I was also checking the "upcoming sales" constantly, and it was never there. Only some garbage "sound bar" doohicky that no one should own. I left computer work to go to normal science work for about 30 minutes, and then it showed up on the sale page as...sold out. wtf.

Anyway, ti would have been a dicey buy for me: would have to ship to DC (where I'll be moving in ~2 months) to a possible work address and find some way to get it from there to the apartment, all while on the other coast. Also, $500 was my target. whatever.
Sweet, big Zin moving to DC metro? DC>Bay area for cost of living.

I almost went for the RayBan 80 something bucks but already have a nice pair of polarized Bolle's that have lasted 10+ years.

We got a network camera, some makeup brushs, SD cards, and an external battery. Good prices in all of it. I don't see what all the complaining is about.

Yep - minuscule cracks turn giant and they stain easily (spaghetti sauce is terrible for this). For a couple extra bucks, go glass. Kohl's has some great deals now and then on Pyrex sets if you use the $10 of $30 + 30% off + $5 Yes2You Rewards + Free Shipping. Got a set of round Pyrex (4 piece + lids) for ~$11 a month or two ago.
