Who's using Google Chrome?

Anyone else using Google Chrome yet? I just installed it, visited a few of my favorite sites and it seems to render them all perfectly and quickly. Anyone else using it?

What I like most is that it just feels like a container for tabs.

Some parts are nice, some parts are not so nice.
It's fast, the tab location is good (at the very top), the history page is very nice.

What I don't like is that it's not Firefox (e.g. addons don't work with it), it doesn't have mouse gestures (Opera comes with them by default AFAIK, and FF with an addon), some things are more difficult to use than they should be (bookmarks menu, download details, e.g. download speed). There's no way to scroll by clicking middle mouse.

It's not very customisable (not just addons), you don't seem to be able to move/add elements, like the new tab button, you can't add a new window button, there's no home page button etc etc.

Some things are done so it's simpler/cleaner, but they don't offer the opportunity to add them back which is the problem for me.

And it's not perfect at rendering.

Using it right now, looks very very promising. Love the clean look, love how the tabs work, love the start page, love how bookmarks are handled (would be nice to get the option to have it as a bar and when you click a bookmark a new tab appears)

Needs an ad blocker badly

Not really sure about it yet. I really don't like how the bookmarks are handled though. Stickin with FF.

Have it installed and tried it for awhile, I like the ability to drag tabs to a separate window or drag a window onto another browser window and make it become a tab but I will probably be sticking with FF, I just don't see a need to switch browsers right now.

I'm posting with it now. I don't care for it much so far. I like my customized FireFox better. Also, when I try to import my FireFox settings, Chrome sits at 66% cpu usage on both cores :^/

Also, I've customized FF so much, which Chrome doesn't really allow you to do at all.

I did notice it displays AT page #s properly and actually shows the hand icon when hovering over those links...something FF has issues with for some reason.

It seems a bit stripped down to me, like they tried to make a clean simplified interface but took it too far.

so after using it today heres what i want to know....

Why doesnt it intsall on xp that does not have the ie dlls (for example. the european release of xp which is minus ie)

also when you go "under the hood" and fiddle with the connection settings why does it bring up ie's proxy settings? And if you change a setting it susequently transfers over to ie and vice versa?

I like the browser but these are things that must be answered.

^ The connection settings IE uses in XP are infact the system-wide default Internet settings so anything changed in IE will change for any program that sources its settings from the same point.

I really like a lot of the ideas behind Chrome but at the minute it doesn't do anything more for me or anything more efficiently than Opera does. No mouse gestures, short search nicks and a few other things that I like to use. Plus, in setup it only had the ability to import stuff from IE and not my settings from Opera which just annoyed me. It looks quite nice, though.

i under stand that ie is the system wide settings. but that doesnt negate that fact that it doesnt work unless ie is installed.

I know fire fox works becuase it has its own network settings. Ive seen browsers that are very light (fit on a floppy kinda light) that have their own network settings. i really think google missed the boat on that one.

To show independance from M$ and IE and allow users to have choice then they should have put their own network system in place instad of relying on IE.

Other than that the browser is pretty good, it has it quirks, and it is in beta so maybe they will fix it.

And i just reported the website to google (it has a built-in bug report system), it's a beta, so hopefully some rendering will be fixed.

Not ready to replace FF3 with Chrome (yet?) but it's lightweight and fast. Perfect for opening my other gmail accounts

I just wish you could open separate accounts in separate tabs in the same window... with different processes for each tab I would have thought it would be possible. Apparently not...

its nice but the lack of plugins means i'm sticking with FF3. adblock plus alone is enough reason to use FF for me

For me.. after reading the EULA it is a definite NO!! they have left themselves to many loopholes that I am not comfortable with. Some info and more if you do some searching. JMHO
I will stick with Firefox for the present.

i'm pretty much in the same boat.

I'm posting this from chrome, but i dont think i can see myself using it on a daily basis. the lack of plugins/addons is too much for me.

i cant live with out adblock and noscript.

I don't use any Firefox extensions so switching to Chrome won't be difficult to me. Chrome greatly reminds me of pre-1.0 Firefox days when the browser was still no-frills lean and fast browser. After using it 1.5 hours, I haven't found any problems or features I miss from Firefox. Chrome will be my default browser from now on. Best of all, Chrome's rendering and javascript speed runs circles around Firefox.

I heartily welcome a browser that can make WebKit rendering engine widely adopted. Safari failed, perhaps Chrome will succeed.

meh, i still like opera better. chrome is ok for simple web browsing but for more advanced settings, bookmark management, handling, rendering, Opera is better.

I like it, I still have to figure out how to access my bookmarks after playing around with it for a couple minutes but it's fast and 1 slow loading tab doesn't freeze the whole browser which is huge for me since my connection isn't all too good.

No hurry - when it gets past beta, then I'll try it. I am using iGoogle now for my web homepage. Not bad! Very customizable with tabs.
