It's fast, the tab location is good (at the very top), the history page is very nice.

What I don't like is that it's not Firefox (e.g. addons don't work with it), it doesn't have mouse gestures (Opera comes with them by default AFAIK, and FF with an addon), some things are more difficult to use than they should be (bookmarks menu, download details, e.g. download speed). There's no way to scroll by clicking middle mouse.

It's not very customisable (not just addons), you don't seem to be able to move/add elements, like the new tab button, you can't add a new window button, there's no home page button etc etc.

Some things are done so it's simpler/cleaner, but they don't offer the opportunity to add them back which is the problem for me.

And it's not perfect at rendering.
http://xs131.xs.to/xs131/08362/error467.png <- the example I've found so far.

And i just reported the website to google (it has a built-in bug report system), it's a beta, so hopefully some rendering will be fixed.

I'd like to see it pass Acid3 eventually. But yeah, it's just a beta...initial public release at that...so I expect great things for the future.

Dont like having bookmarks as a menu instead of a bar.

Dont like how my middle mouse button does nothing when pushed, i dont know what its called when i push it in FF but a scroll thing appears.

Dont like how i cant move things like the bookmarks etc over to the left.

Dont like the order that new tabs open in.

Apart from those 4 minor things it seems pretty promising, i like gmail, and google earth is awesome, so ill definately be following chrome to see how it pans out in the end, i will leave firefox for it if the above 4 items are sorted out.

The scroll buttons on my laptop don't work at all. When I hit the down button I get the goddamn windows "error" sound. Shut the fuck up and scroll, you piece of shit.

It does seem to render AT a hell of a lot faster than FF3, though.

Click the options thing and check "always show bookmark bar"

It's pretty nice.

I also miss my scroll wheel.
Could use some more customization.
Needs more options, I don't like how far my mouse wheel scrolls down.

All just small nitpicks.

FF3 is faster. It's like downgrading for me just for browsing speeds. This matters especially when internet isnt the fastest at work. Furthermore... ADS? I haven't seen those in ages. Damn no AdBlock

I'm using it right now. It does seem like a good browser, but I don't think enough to make me switch to it.

I think it has a lot of potential, and they should definitely continue working on it. Just the fact that it is open source is a huge victory, imo.

I just tooled around on it and I think it is reasonably meh.

I do think it is pretty speedy and I like the clean look to it. I am a big time Opera fan and the lack of mouse gestures just annoys the hell out of me. There does not seem to be much customizing (as of yet at least) and when compared to Opera, I really enjoy the sidebar in Opera for notes, bookmarks, downloads and so forth. I do like it more than Firefox - that is a browser I still just can't get into.

I really wish Google would have partnered up with Opera. I strongly feel that Opera is the best browser hands down and with the backing of Google they really could be a more dominant force.

I know fire fox works becuase it has its own network settings. Ive seen browsers that are very light (fit on a floppy kinda light) that have their own network settings. i really think google missed the boat on that one.

To show independance from M$ and IE and allow users to have choice then they should have put their own network system in place instad of relying on IE.

Other than that the browser is pretty good, it has it quirks, and it is in beta so maybe they will fix it.

Actually, the network system doesn't use IE at all. It just uses IE's property pages, much like what happens when you configure Safari on a Mac or Konqueror on a KDE Linux. It's trying to streamline proxy configuration. However, I agree it was an oversight not to include a custom property page for those without IE.

For me.. after reading the EULA it is a definite NO!! they have left themselves to many loopholes that I am not comfortable with. Some info and more if you do some searching. JMHO
I will stick with Firefox for the present.

I believe Google is rescinding the pertinent clause: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1386...6.html?tag=mncol;posts

I highly dislike having the tabs up top. It's inefficient, since my cursor's almost always somewhere in the middle of the screen. I don't like having to move my mouse that far. I also don't care for the clean look. My FireFox is gloriously cluttered with buttons and doodads that I find very useful :^)

Chrome is quite speedy, I think it's the fastest browser I've used so far, but I don't see it ever being anything other than a secondary browser for me.

Best of all, Chrome's rendering and javascript speed runs circles around Firefox.

I heartily welcome a browser that can make WebKit rendering engine widely adopted. Safari failed, perhaps Chrome will succeed.

no addons man you dont know what your missing!

My must have is foxmarks, download them all, fast dial... the other ones i can live without. And it seems chrome has fast dial allready built in. Andi think it can sync bookmarks via google?

No way will I install Chrome. To me, implementing something like this is completely unacceptable.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1386...-56.html?tag=mncol;txt
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Provided that users leave Chrome's auto-suggest feature on and have Google as their default search provider, Google will have access to any keystrokes that are typed into the browser's Omnibox, even before a user hits enter.

Ok first thing i dont like, is that i cannot double click next to a tab to open a new tab. And yes i see the stupid little +. I like speed sometimes not accuracy,

Like: the missing menus that i NEVER use.
Omnibar is sweeet
Like dragging the tabs out (I have wanted this for a while)
Order of newly opened tabs, Could you change this in FF?

Dislike: All the missing addons i use

I think google will really polish this thing and make it shine!

what would you be typing in that bar that's so private? it's to send information out, not a place to type passwords or anything.

Nothing because I have to plans to install the browser. Personally, I see no benefit on my part when someone has the ability to capture what I type before I hit the ENTER key. In my opinion if somebody else implemented such a feature, everyone would yell malware. However since it is Google, the browsing habits of users will be questioned instead. Anyway, I simply choose not to support such a product.

I found something else I like... Chrome remembers that I've clicked that double arrow button on the AnandTech home page to make it fill a window larger than 800x600.

I like it so far. I can't figure out though, how to see my bookmarks. I imported bookmarks but can only see the ones already there.

As a photographer who posts images on message boards from time to time, I will not use Chrome until Google removes the horrible clause that anything submitted through the browser becomes licensed to Google for LIFE with no royalties. I would, however, like to use the open source version of it (Chromium), but I have no idea how to compile it (The Zip has PDB files....what do I do with those?)

If M/S or Mozilla had written a EULA like this the screaming would be deafening.

I like the browser it is quite fast. However, today I noticed my fans started blaring at work. Looked up task manager, and my CPU is at 70-90% capacity constant. Not sure what it is, I go to processes, and chrome is the culprit. I noticed I had two tabs on NFL.COM. I close those two, and everything is back to normal. I open IE7, go to NFL?s site again. At first the cpu usage spikes but then it drops down to normal. I open the sites again with Chrome, and the usage spikes but stays up. Any ideas?
