Why @5760x1080 AMD performs better ??

I read alot of reviews and benchmarks and realized that in general AMD GPUs are performing much better @5760 with AA.

I thought this was due to VRAM but it seems like something else is affecting the performance. Does anyone why?

VRAM and bandwidth will be big performance limiters at high resolution, much more so than at 1080p.

its the ROPs when it comes to the 290/290x. those cards have hardly anymore bandwidth than the 780 and even less than the 780ti. and if vram is an issue then a game stutters and usually takes a nose dive. you dont just drop a few fps off the average.

Yes in the case of the new Hawaii cards the ROPs are helping vs the 780 and even Titan, however I hadn't noticed any big win for them vs the 780 Ti at 4K for example so the Ti's bandwidth appears to be helping there.

I mostly thought the OP meant older cards like the GHz Edition and 680 though, could be wrong.

Eh?, the according to Tech Power up, out of the 7 or so surround setups, the Ti beats the 290 in all but 1, 7xxx series eyefinity is busted, so where is it that you get this idea?

both 680 and 7970 got 32 ROPS.
I dont think ROP alone explains why 690 fps goes down drastically with AA.
What do you think??

It's hard to say but the 690's performance has probably crashed due to running out of VRAM. Could also be drivers.

TPU is a very poor source for multi monitor results. Most of the games where the 5760 res is left off in the comparisons are games that it's broken on nVidia setups. His solution is to drop it from the tests and 5760 from the overall results. Funny he doesn't do the same with Crossfire benches. :sneaky:

I didnt see any games of XF or SLI only at that res?..which is funny given your last remark.

What I'm saying is he gladly runs crossfire on games that it's broken on, but if nVidia surround is broken on a game the res gets dropped from the review summary.

You used to see graphs like the ones above. You notice in their reviews there's no performance summary for 5760*1080. Those graphs above are the reason they never included them. W1zzard didn't think it was fair.

Is there a particular situation/scenario/benchmark that lead you to you conclusion? It is easier for us to discuss your theory if we know what you are basing it off of.

....as for 280x, there is 2 frames over 770...destroyed?

Hey man, that little bar is longer. Of course it is going to get more attention from the ladies!
