Eagle Talon, Acura Integra, Toyota Supra, Honda Prelude, etc...... exist no longer. All the good cars are dissapearing
(and don't mention RSX, I liked the Integra more)

yeah the IS300 is a nice car...for some reason it's not selling too well though...if i had the money or the parents i'd rather get that car then a Benz or BMW

i too am sad that Toyota and Honda have replaced their older models with newer, updated uglier cars (Celica, RSX) to name a few

Gawd, where's the Impala SS, Cadillac Broughams and any other decent sized, rugged cars? Blame your fellow consumers. There has to be a market for these cars or they won't be built.

They havent gone anywhere most of them, your just going to have to either learn to work on cars or pay little bits here and there for them instead of an all at once car payment. You can have practically any "old" car you want for about the same or sometimes less than a new one. People look at old Corvette's, there a good example. They see a beautiful early 70's model and get depressed when they get back to their Honda that cost more than a nice example of the vette, I dont understand it. Seen it time and time again, the only explination I found is laziness. I love it when they make crappier new cars, more spare old cars and parts for me..

Eagle Talon - was a rebadge Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eclipse still lives
Toyota Supra - RIP
Nissan 300Z - reborn again as the 350Z
Mazda RX-7 - reborn again as the RX-8
Acura Integra -> Acura RSX, it's still known as the INTEGRA in other parts of the world including Japan and Australia, but Honda wanted Acura to use all alpha name to bolden the Acura brand. The RSX Type-S is faster than the old GSR and the soon to be release in the US 220hp RSX Type-R will smoke the old 190hp Integra Type-R. Goto Honda (Japan) and see for yourself. So stop your bitchin'

Way ahead of you there, but only cause I'm cheap. Been driving since 1973 and I've NEVER purchased a new car... nor a foreign car. I repair my own and can't be bothered with chasing down expensive foreign car parts. Hah, I don't own too many metric tools either for that matter!

But it sucks like crazy that Detroit keeps dropping all these RWD cruisers. All we got left is trucks, SUVs and Town Cars...

hehe we're not bitching about the car specs...we're bitching about how fugly some of these new designs are (or at least that's what i got out of it)

i could care less about the speed differential between a RSX Type-S and and an Integra Type-R, i don't go about ricing around the freeways lol

Thing with nice old cars too is it is the only way you can drive for free. Get a nice older style car drive her around. Sell it for more to cover the upkeep. Ya just can't finance them. Which is a good thing.

Actually...
Mitsubishi Eclipse is a shadow of it's former self... my 2G Eclipse was a better sports car... period.
Toyota Supra... is going to be resurrected!!! Toyota is due to release a preproduction concept soon.
Nissan Z... gosh, I do hope they do it right... so far, it's still too slow
RX7... same deally with the Z, better do it right!
Acura 'Teg... the old 'Teg had the double wishbone suspension setup that makes it awesome on tracks & autoX. The 'Teg isn't really a strip car and I wonder if the US spec TypeR will have an LSD... there's always the S2000.

Also, the mighty Skyline GTR will eventually come to our shores! Not to mention the WRX is here and it's STi brother as well as the Lancer Evolution 7 are all due soon. The good cars were just taking a breather so we could afford them!

Yeah, they could have kept makeing the F-body, but it's sales were shi**y, two guesses why..

Only non-domestic thing I will touch are European, I've had good luck with early 80's VW's, diesel only though, that and Jags and MBenz and such, the Jags are wonderfull cars, cheap too, parts cost will kill you if your not carefull, but there still ALLOT cheaper than 18K+ for a disposable late model.

One of the benefits of being mechanicaly inclined I guess..

"Sell it for more to cover the upkeep..."

Uhm, how do you do that?

I've never had a car payment and I'm loathe to ever go that route. Hell, I know of people who have more money going out for transportation than their mortgage! Sheesh, talk about priorities! I'm frugal as hell with cars, but I haven't figured out how to sell them for more than they cost to acquire. Usually, when I'm through with a car... IT'S FINISHED!

That's simple, buy something that will appreciate. Certain models of some cars will not go down in value, only up. I saw a late 60's big block Vette going for 125K on egay recently. OK that isnt a good example, but there are some that will devalue more than others. Not a big concern of mine really, only cars I've ever sold I regretted the heck out of it..

The Supra will live on as well, it's being reborn the 4000GT I believe (In japan the MKIV Supras were known as 3000GTs I think).
I miss the old MR-2 (yes the Turbo one, god what a great car)
I'll miss the Lude too, it was a very respectible Honda.
Integra = RSX, it's just the next gen, and it's built in the same spirit as the Integras
I especially miss the older versions of my cars, the late 80's Daytona's and Shadows. People wow about a newer Integra Type R that sells for $25,000 or more, when Dodge was making 14.5 second beasts (with leather and power everything) for $17,000 in '92. I wish the spirit of the 175HP Turbo/Intercooled 2.2 lived on, think how great that would've been for the street racing scene And not to mention the 224HP 2.2 that made it into the 91-93 R/T models, if only the engines were more common, Eclipse GS-Ts and even WRXs would be running for their lives, why did Chrysler switch to the cloud cars and drop all the fun ones? A 225HP Dodge Avenger or Neon woulda been F'n sweet back in 95-96

Ya don't finish them LOL. keep presentable not perfect.
All kinds of things out there. Example if you had bought a repainted 79 Trans Am a three years ago you could kill today with fresh paint and Eagle stickers. It would probably have a rebuild under its belt and wouldn't be perfect but for sure you could break even.
BMW 2002, Fairlanes, Dodge Dart/Swinger. Stuff like that.

Edit Fairmonts LOL

Some little girl cleaned my clock with an MR-2 once... SHEESH! :Q

I'll think about trying to "invest" in my next car. That would be quite a switch. Any more, I'm happy if I can own a car, maintenance and all (but not gas), for about $100.00 per month average by the time I'm done with it. That gets harder and harder to do as the years go by. I've never even considered being able to break even or better!
