Anyone else notice this? I hate them! Get off the street!

They drive 30mph on the highway.

Merge into freeway at 30 mph

Drive 60 mph in freeway fast lane on the left.

Change lanes w/o looking at blind spots. No signals.

Cut people off.

Can't park.

Stop on the right side of the red light intersection so people in the back can't right turn.

Drive in reverse in freeway when they missed the exit. (I've seen this personally!)

The list goes on..........

Please share your experience with Camry drivers here

I did a little googling and apparently some people agrees with me:

Intake with a very short pipe to the compressor... the turbine is wrapped up.

That guy drives around on semi-slicks, not bad. Too bad it still only runs 10 seconds, lol.

No power till you approach 1 million RPM... meh. I'd much rather have a smaller turbo than wait 2 weeks for boost to kick in.

Not a MA plate who lived in Lebanon, was it? If so, I think that's the one I towed up the hill by my house....

She was a Dartmouth graduate student, so quite possibly.

So much for an ivy league education

One of Car and Driver's editors summed it pretty well when he said [paraphrasing here] that Toyota's "unintended acceleration" issues were the logical result of decades of building cars that could only be tolerated by people for whom driving is a chore.

We now know those "issues" were driver error. The fact that so many Camry and Corollas seem to be operated by space cadets is just the daily result of the same problem that leads these people to mistake their pedals or forget how to operate their transmission.

Like I've always said when it comes to the standard Japanese car-buying question: If you don't like to drive, buy a Toyota. You'll love it. If you like to drive, buy a Honda. You'll love it.

Absolutely true. There's such a thing as a Civic coupe or Accord coupe, but there is no Corolla or Camry coupe. Honda's vehicles with automatic transmissions get worse gas mileage than the manual transmissions because they have somewhat aggressive gearing. Toyota's vehicles get the same and sometimes better mileage with the automatic because the gearing severely cripples performance. It's also weird how a lot of Toyota products don't even have an optional manual transmission. My car is a Corolla LE - automatic transmission only. The AWD version of the Matrix is automatic only.

Solara?

I'm not defending Toyota's decision to make beige vehicles. When the CEO acknowledges that the vehicles are boring, you know you have a problem.

Sure there is - just not new. AE86, anyone?

Up in Canada it's Toyota Corollas that are the worst. They drive super fucking slow all the time for no reason.

No sir. I drive a Toyota myself and the steering wheel doesn't come out far enough. It feels like I need to reach just a little bit too far. My last car was a Honda Civic and that wheel came so far out you could probably rest your neck on it while sitting as far back as possible.

QFT, Corolla's around the GTA, it's just terrible

I pass pretty much everyone (on the right of course) anyhow.

I don't even call it "passing in the right lane" anymore. I prefer the more accurate term "driving the speed limit in the right lane"

On the way home from work, I passed a shit load of cars while I was in the right lane. Posted speed limit is 100k (62mph) and I was going slightly below that yet I was still flying past everyone else

Many corolla, civic, and camry drivers are slow going merging onto the highway, coming out of a side street onto a main street, slow at the light when it turns green, and can't park for shit. That's from my small sample of vehicles I've run into.

I drive a Prelude, and yes sometimes I drive like an ass as well, as well as other Prelude owners on the road. I dunno if I'm more of a danger to the public than the slow going ones though *shrugs*

I wonder if it's an old person thing. Every old person I know swears up and down that reving the engine fucks it up. Try to keep the engine lower than 2000 RPM. Can you guess how incredibly slow a Corolla accelerates at 2000RPM?

This is why old people cars have like 600HP. Instead of using a 200HP engine and learning how to drive properly, they opt for the 10L V12 engine which they then keep below 2000 RPM if possible. If you make the engine big enough, it might have that magical 200HP when it's running at only 2000 RPM.

I would love to see an old person try to drive a car with a variable transmission. It revs too high so they let off the gas, so it throttles the engine and it revs down. Instead of half throttle at 5k rpm or open throttle at 2k, it'll do something like half throttle at 2k and it will never actually get up to 60mph.

I drive a Camry as a beater/dd and I can do 70 on the freeway and this makes everyone else want to go 71. If I go 90 they go 91. In my experience Camrys are percieved as slow and weak and are thus asshole magnets drawing out all the alpha male machismo douchebags that are in hiding when I have the Cobra.

I agree 100%, when I'm driving my wife's Prius I guarantee someone will cut me off. I could be the last car in a line of five cars and have a 1/4 mile of open road behind me and someone will come flying up and want to get into the space between me and the car in front of me. Never happens in my Z28 or my F150.

Just turn your high beams on for a couple miles.

It's not like you'll get a ticket for it. Judging by the number of BMW SUVs on the road with HID lights that shine directly into everyone else's eyes, I'm guessing there's no law that prevents you from intentionally blinding other people or intentionally causing accidents.
