Why are celebrities SO freaking Liberal?

Personally I'd say I'm about 55% Liberal and 45% Conservative/Republican. I seem to go a little more right every year :Q

However, just as John Ashcroft gives republicans a bad name celebrities do the same for Liberals. What do you think is the reason why it seems that damn near all actors, for instance, are so far left they're about to fall off the planet? Personally I think it's because the money they have has given them such freedom to do as they like that they are too far removed from what the average person in our society faces. Not having to confront the real decisions that the majority of our society has to deal with, due to their wealth and advantages, they sit on their naive thrones of gold throwing out mindless and unrealistic fantasies.

They feel that they have the power to stick up for the "poor and trampled on" AKA Jane Fonda jumping from cause to cause then marrying Turner who ironiclaly owns the Atlanta Braves. Why is this Ironic? Well she was a big "supporter" of the Native American movement in the 80, till that got old and she jumped to another "worthy" cause.

I think much of it as to do w/base stereotypes of Rep being "conservative" (in all ways, in all parts of their lives) sticks-in-the-mud, and Dem.'s being "liberal' all smoking dope in a field of daisies listening to Jefferson Airplane... Even though when it comes to American politics the terms "liberal" and "conservative" have much different meanings than in their everyday use.

Well I don't have all the names in list but just look any time a celebrity says something political the chances are it's going to be Liberal. Sometimes it's not nutty but often it's nutty liberal. Woody harolson <SP> was recently arrested for some stupid sh*t he did, then sean penn is very liberal, not to mention the baldwins and whomever else. I can't personally think right now of any republican-supporting actors - at least not nearly as quickly as I can come up with liberal ones.

Being liberal doesn't mean that you have a lot to give and therefore feel the necessity to give. It means that you think you can force others to give, even if those others don't wish to. Raising taxes for government spending of welfare and public health plans is the same as being charitable with other people's money.
IMO, many celebrities tend to be extremely liberal because (1) they fancy themselves as artsy types and (2) they are paid far more than they deserve/have earned, which leaves them with a guilty conscience.

I think AHnold Schwartzanagererererer is a Republican. There's a few others, but the percentages are about the same as the percentage of Canadians in Alabama. You're right. By and large, most typically seem to fall toward the more liberal extreme from what I've seen.

Conservatives, check out the posts on this forum, are bent on forcing their religion and basically their sooial and cultural beliefs (biases) on other people. There are a lot of people in this country who disagree with this but the media gives air time to celebrities.

I am sure there are a lot of celebrities who agree with Bush et al no matter what, and who are against gun control, the goverment helping all people, women's rights, etc.

Awe c'mon pulse. I was only in LA for 9 months and I felt like a fish outta water as a Rep. Of course things changed a bit after 9/11 when the peace loving buggy huggers got a wake-up call that the world isn't all warm and fuzzy, not everyone wants a hug, and, by god, these "war-mongering" Reps that want to spend money on the military and intelligence agencies might just be on to something. :Q


Arnold is the only big Rep backing actor I can think of. John Milios, but he's not exactly a "heavy hitter"

To name a few, but that's about it. I think saying that just about every celebrity is "so far left they're about to fall off the planet" is just as naive a statement as the crap Babs spews out. Granted, celebrities make for an easy target because they make millions for doing what is seemingly an easy job, but lumping them all together like that doesn't make the point any stronger.

I'm sure a lot are liberal because it's a liberal industry, but I don't think it's accurate to think that all celebrities believe the same nonsense as some of the vocal minority.

LOL, this reminds me about how all those celebrities wanted Malibu Beach to be closed to the public ("hey, the beach is 'our' backyard...I don't go walking around in your backyard!") and they realized after a few years that they were donating money to the WRONG PARTY (everyone in a Malibu beachfront home is now a Republican!)
