Why are Europeans so offended by US patriotism?

And if we're talking about economy, let's take cars for example...
How many American made cars do we see in Europe? ie. Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth, Jeep, GMC/Pontiac/Chevrolet/Buick, Ford...?
Now how many European made cars do we see in North America? ie. BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini, Lexus, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, VVW, Alfa Romeo, SAAB, Audi, Volvo, Land Rover and many, many others that we see on daily basis?

I think Europe and East Asia own the car department.

Most are not. If you want to go around singing "U - S - A" and lar-de-dar like stuff, waving your flag, thats fine by most of us. We do the same a lot of the time too, just look at the world cup and events like that, loads of people who get behind their country. nothing special about that.

there are other reasons why europeans have problems with the US, here is a brief list for ME PERSONALLY i speak FOR NO-ONE ELSE BUT MYSELF

1. Arrogance. This thread proves it all. Whether true or not, all the claims of 'oh yeah its coz we're so great' and such like. the US has lots of problems, faults just like every other country in the world.

2. Selfishness. There seems to be a general attitude of do whats best for yourself and the rest of the world can go to hell, at least with the current US government. I don't need to list all the recent examples. all that crap posted about socialism too, you wouldn't be saying that if your kid daughter needed medical treatment and you couldn't afford to pay for it.

3. Attempted Bullying to get their own way. WTF is that latest thing about wanting to be immune to prosecution for Genocide ??? the US thinks they are above everyone else. the US doesn't hold itself accountable to the rest of the world.

4. Lies. This thread has about 4,000 lies or over-statements about history.

and if europe wanted to be a massive super power, we could easily be, we could all unite and make one massive union, but most of us know what kinds of problems that would cause, and so the european union only exists for uniting things that actually work.

just for the record i also have major problems with

France
Spain
and in part Germany

We want to save the world too, probably a lot more than you do. We just don't want to do it your way.

Maybe that's the reason Opel sucks. I believe it has been many times found to be the one the most unreliable cars in many studies.

Since this thread has nothing but extreme generalizations I can add a few more:
- all Americans are obese except those in California because they look like from Baywatch
- all Europeans smell bad
- all Americans think like Jerry Falwell
- all Europeans are communists (and as we all know communism is the root of all evil)

Oh yeah, I'm an European having lived in the States and IMO the percentage of morons across the pond is equal and there is nothing going to change that.

Saab is a GM brand. Volvo is a Ford brand. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep are Mercedes brands. Jaguar is a Ford brand. Lexus is Japanese. In other words, the car companies are al intertwined

Well said. The feeling of supremacy by being born to a certain country imo is not far from feeling superior and wearing sheets because you happen to be born to a white family. It happened by coincidence.

Two things should not be taken to extremes: religion and patriotism. And mixing those is even worse.

Opel sold cars here in the early seventies. My grade school best friend's mom drove a little two seater GT. It looked like a mini-vette to me back then

BTW, GM bought Opel in 1929 about 30 years after it's founding. Before 1899 the company was run by Adam Opel and made bicycles.
