I include myself in that set of dis-evolved people. I am, actually, worse than most, to be fair.

I don't know of any other people(s) I can show as an example who are more dis-evolved than Indians. Maybe that comes from being Indian myself who was born in India, and has a fondness for that country and her problems. I proudly declare that we are dis-evolved. Won't you join me?

I can raise another question in light of this thread. Why are Chinese people very competitive and get jealous easily?

Like AgaBoogaBoo said, this is an issue that applies to all races:

Why do Chinese people always smell like their dinner? They get on the schoolbus and automatically I say "stinky FOBs."

Why do Chinese people's houses smell like they've been frying fish the whole day? When you leave the house, you smell like you've walked out of a Chinese restaurant.

Why do Chinese kids always say they know more about computers, car tuning and math/science than anyone else? I've done this before. I know how it feels. I've spouted off computer hardware parts in middle school in front of other Asian people. Had huge debates on which company is better and how their products are better than their competitors. Once you get a new hardware part, they ask you what you got and you say "Oh, I got a Corsair HX520." Without hesitation, they'd try to find a better product than yours...say a Fortron 550W for a lower price than that Corsair. Or they dig up facts on bringing your part down so it makes them feel better about their Fortron AX-400PN. It's all ego-related.

These are stereotypes, yes. They are also true for the majority of Chinese people. We all want to be better than the guy next to us. Hell, the Chinese kids that just got off the plane all think PRC is the fscking ******. I had Chinese pride before. I've walked their path and come to realize that once you've been in the United States long enough, you have to adapt. The white man is not your enemy, unless you want him to be. That would only alienate you from everyone else. We are all American. We all came here to live the American Dream.

Ignorance itself does not become evidence in the absence of facts. That's the sole prerogative of religion.

Good try, though

I chuckle at some of the replies in this thread. Not just "Indians" play the "one up/I am better than you are" game. Around here, we have people <whites/blacks/asians/etc..> that drive Lexus/BMW or live in a big house that they barely can afford just to make them feel better.

Man a lot of things in this thread are pretty interesting. Being a 17 year old Indian who has lived here for all my life, it is itneresting to see the two different sides.

I agree fully with the adapt to America idea, I tell that to my parents all the time. Considering I live in an area with tons of Indian fobs, I always think about how Indian ladies appear to still think they are India. I see Indian women walking down the street next to the grocery store or shopping mall wearing Salwar-Kameez or Sari's. Im like

And in my experience among my mostly asian freinds circle. Chinese people are more competitive than Indian. I won't even go into how playing basketball is with one of my freinds from Hong Kong. Simply put it exists across all races.

My parents have lived here 17 years but they still sometimes act like FOBS.

I like your signature. How am I ignorant in saying that Indians, myself included, are dis-evolved? Where are we, as an Indian people, on the evolutionary scale of being? Maybe the next time I am up in Cary, I'll drop you a line and we can have a beer and discuss.

Cheers.

Please explain where he is wrong.

1. He doesn't know what he is talking about by his own admission.
2. He claims to be worse than the people he is judging.
3. He is widely digressing from the topic talking about India's problems
(which, if you cannot make the distinction, are markedly different from the alleged problems raised by the OP).
4. A few hours from his original posts about Indians being dis-evolved, he is yet to produce a notarized certificate establishing him as authority on whether Indians are dis-evolved or not.

Enough?

Age has no bearing on how much wisdom one has. To be honest, you need to take your head out of where the light don't shine and realize that you are desperately trying to win an argument you have already lost.

I'd like to raise another question(s)...

Is there a limit on how much weakness should be exposed? If over time, you slowly talk of your weaknesses to others, and even if they help you, does that mean that over time they may feel overall superior to you? Even if you have some strengths in which you surpass them, if you expose more weakness, does that create the superiority complex? Thus, they express through their tone in one way or another that they feel superior, and you are looked down upon? Therefore, where is the limit? What's said is said, and if you try and balance it out, the need for superiority clicks in. Is equality not an option unless it is forced by a superior?

It's kind of hard to express everything into words when you try and think of the big picture through logical reasoning...

You are ignorant when you make unsolicited representations, particularly when the representations are derogatory in nature. When challenged, you admitted your ignorance and further attempted to use that as the benchmark for the validity of your statements. It's like calling yourself a fool and saying that all human beings are fools because you are one. At that point your ignorance becomes self-evident. No further proof or explanation is necessary.

As for the beer, I'd be more than happy to buy you a round the next time you are in Cary.

Let me guess...you are 17 too? Nevertheless, age does have a bearing on wisdom. Sure, young people can be wise too, but not when they are claiming that Indian women should change their attire just because they now live in the US. Do you even know what a Salwar-Kameez or a Sari is?

There was no argument to win. It was just a bunch of visceral opinions expressed by anonymous users on a message board. My posts were almost entirely about calling them out on it. Thanks for keeping score, though. I assure you, it was entirely unnecessary.

show me how recent/new immigrants are immediately considered integrated into the community

your argument only applies to second, third generation, american born indians.

i have Indian/Pakistani friends born here who shows none of the traits that I wrote. no smell, no accent, nothing. most 2nd and 3rd generations are so far removed from their original culture that they have to be considered strictly americans of a different descent. we are arguing that most recent and 1st generations who are not removed from their original culture and are less integrated into society

Wait, didn't you say you were Chinese? And you're saying Indians don't integrate well in society?
