Can't say I've seen this in a while. Has he been on a vacation?

Why would the 'failure of government' make them more liberal? That same survey shows that younger generations want MORE government, not less.

What exactly is "more government"....because how I see it, they want more government "help" but less government 'moral interference'.

Because they're smarter?

/couldn't resist

There are lots of reasons; partially listed by berserker60.

Allowing for and seeking change is a good thing.

Continuing a policy, action, etc. because we've always done it, it works most of the time or works for most people isn't necessarily a good thing for government, companies, organizations or people.

We should be open to new ideas and new ways of dealing with issues, preferably with our own biases removed.

How 'bout dem average school grades of millennials compared to the rest of world? Oh yeah, last place because they are too busy banging their teachers.

Bunch of spoiled, whiny, entitled little shits. When parents stop rewarding bad behavior with a belt and instead give them a shiny new toy, what do you expect?

They aren't liberal in the sense of more personal freedoms. They're "liberal" in the sense they want free crap cause its not fair they don't have it.

If it weren't a crime to whoop your child's ass when they deserve it, we wouldn't see so much of it. The baby boomers and hippies are to blame.

To put it in the best way possible:

What was once a quest of asking "How can I climb the latter to prosperity?" became a simple quest of "How can I bring the top of the latter down to me?"

The article says why without even realizing it when it talks about how Millenials are optimists. Conservatives are pessimists.

no political affilation for me

a mix of socialism and libertarism

third way

a more unregualted maket in many ways than the us

state services of the following

energy
medical care
banks
education
military
mass transportation
space
mail
basic life necessities (basic food and care products)
possibly basic industries (basic vehicle production and such)
networking (the internet)

none of these preclude private organizations from working in the same fields

with private internet companies how they might use public land or spectrum might need to be figured out

Another question would be: What are Conservatives offering these days to oppose the liberal notion of government?

Seems all they have to offer is batshit lunacy...

1. They aren't as xenophobic as older generations.

2. They aren't afraid of gay people.

3. They don't want us to invade random foreign countries and occupy them indefinitely.

4. They've seen how insane the Republican party is.

Interesting topic. Also interesting that not a single person so far has a view of the issue similar to mine.
I find it amusing that some of you are blaming the boogie man.

For you Pray To Jesus, now back to the Millennial discussion.

Progs = Progressives = Liberals = Crony Capitalists = National Socialists = Fascists = Marxists = Communists

Progs have taken over the Democratic Party, destroying this country since 1913. There are a lot of progs in the Republican Party as well.

Progs want to turn free citizens into slaves of the all powerful State. The Constitution is anathema to their goals so they try to destroy it piece by piece.

It's a return to the normal way of the world. The conservative happy-head Reaganite frat boys of the 80s and starry-eyed conservative Christian-rock zombies of the 90s were the anomalies in youth politics.

Young people are always more liberal, they are getting involved for the first time and have high hopes that they can solve all the problems with humanity through honest government action.

Everyone older has had their hopes stripped from them and tend to focus more on reality and what is realistically possible, with the knowledge that government isn't a shining unicorn that rains goodness upon us all.

Again, you have to read the article. They are more liberal than previous generations even when accounting for age.

It is also good to note that the idea that people's political opinions become more conservative as they age is overblown. Research shows that political positions remain relatively static over time; what is often mistaken for increasing conservatism is that society changes around us all.

Maybe someone mentioned it and I didn't see it, but what about access to information? While we have channels dedicated to bullshit, it's still pretty hard to get away with it now. I almost want to make the joke Stephen Colbert made so long ago: facts have a liberal bias.

Marketing. The democrats are marketing geniuses. Forget all the doom and gloom, the government offers themselves to you. Vote democrat and get your own teat!

I like how all the conservative responses are "they are secret future conservatives anyway" or "they have been evilly tricked". There's never a consideration that they might just actually be genuinely more liberal for non-nefarious reasons.

I was busy with some things. Looks like you're still upset about getting teabagged.

We haven't really missed you. Pray has been taking over your role as the guy who posts pointless vitriol that in no way contributes to or advances the discussion. It's almost like you were never gone.
