Why are non-believers of God so angry?

Okay I get it you don't believe. But why the anger and venom for something you know without a doubt doesn't exist? I can see why Jesus was crucified. There is some serious hate going on.

I don't hate God. I just think God's a big tease.
Leaving hints thru the bible, for instance.

I say show yourself God. It's time to put up or shut up!

Edit:
Hmmm. I'm still here.

Why are believers of God so angry?

Okay, so I get it you believe. But why the anger and venom that anyone could possibly doubt your almighty God? I can't see why ANYONE would doubt his glory! There is some serious lack of faith going on.

*shrug* See? Change a few words, and you're done. The point: you hear the loudest ones.

Because the believers in god force their beliefs upon us and are often violent about it.

* Guys who blew up WTC - believed in god.
* Guys who carbomb in Iraq - believed in god.
* Guys who blow up abortion clinics - believed in god.

Total explanation of the universe and regulation of life is why I have issues w organized religion. I don't bash people for it though. It's natual, flows from sentience and wanting answers. It's also useful as crowd control in some respects until it goes overboard with beheadings and shit, then I have a BIG problem with it.

Don't tread on me.

Some of the nicest people I know are hard core religious. Like my wife and my mom. I go to Church Easter and xmas to make her happy and I'd never disrespect her beliefs.

Because people reciprocate emotions. Why does god hate us for being non-believers? All we do is bash believers, god takes it quite a few steps further and punishes us for all of eternity.

Besides I could make the argument that the world would be a better place without god

Well, there is a lot of stupid out there and it gets frustrating. For example, your poor attempt at a straw man.

It is rare to say that without a doubt something doesn't exist. Anything is possible. Having zero evidence after thousands of years doesn't put a rational mind toward believing something exists.

How about the door to door proselytizing, the constant wars over religion, the constant shoving of religion into public places and schools, the attempts to scare people away from medicine and science, and the constant hypocrisy by those in the religious institutions? How about how you cannot live in most of the US as a non believer without being ridiculed and cast out? You can see advertisements everywhere for christianity, but if you advertise for non believers, people vandalize...

Maybe it is because a handful of ludicrous religious issues have been dominating US politics for 100s of years. It is currently all about abortion and pretending to be religious to run.

Maybe it was because when I was 13 and went over someone's house to work on a school project that I was told I was going to hell because I didn't believe in their religion. Maybe it is because my inlaws have discarded their daughter because she married out of the religion and we've been told we are going to hell.

I can go on and on.

Word. You can't even get consent over which "God" is the right one and/or if there are more than one.

A better question would be: Why do they care what people they don't even know believe?

Been here since 2004, haven't been able to figure it out yet... and the intolerance and flames were the first thing I noticed about ATOT. There's a lot of hate here... it's sad... but over time you just start not giving a crap what people say on the internet.

There are some real nutjobs. But lets not forget the Atheist ideologies which killed millions.

National Socialism
Communism
Socialism
Facism

Those ideologies when you combine the slaughtering of people for the cause, starving through their forced collectivization programs, and through war killed over 100 million people in the last century.

I'd say often times more than not. You dislike basic humanity than believers in god. We as a species have a tendeancy to believe our way is the best and attemp others to believe by force. Give us weapons and some of us take it to extremes.

For a long time I have said that I do not take issue with any god. What I reject are the terrible reasons that people present for believing one exists.

The problem is that an "atheist" is just a non believer. That is not an ideology.

A lack of religion was not the driving force behind those atrocities. Whereas religion WAS the driving force behind the others listed.

Really really poor try though. Guilt by association is not the same as guilt by direct cause.

The WTC was flown into BECAUSE of belief in their god.
The crusades were BECAUSE of the belief in their god.
The inquisition was BECAUSE of their belief in their god.
The soviet union was not evil because a non belief in a god.

But let's play pretend and assume that Nazi Germany and the Soviet union were caused by 2 people who were atheists. Again, atheism is a LACK of belief in something. There is no doctrine unifying the people. There is no common set of values. There is no power structure.

It is the equivalent of saying non-unicorn believers have caused all the wars in the world.

Nice point. Humans are truly sick animals.

These people replaced their religion with an ideology and did atrocious things. The driving force behind race purification in Germany was the ideology. The driving force behind starving millions in the Ukraine and in China was forced farm collectivation. The force behind millions dead across the world from war was the revolution.

These ideologies were atheist and they were deadly. So the idea that organized religion is unique in people killing each other is silly.

Edit: Where did you get the idea Atheism is a disbelief in anything?!?!?!?!?!?!?! It is a rejection in a god or higher power.
