What kind of an idiot puts a urinal in their house?

This was my thought. Good luck when you go to sell it.

if its not difficult to install it shouldn't be difficult to remove. I don't see how this is a problem or enough to call the dude an idiot. If I lived solo and it was a bachelor pad, why the fuck not?

If it isn't the only bathroom in the house, I don't see the problem. It is all about where you put it.

Toilets are bigger

Hint: why do large shirts cost the same as small shirts? Material isn't the only cost that goes into manufacturing something.

"They are not that complicated"
You're right, they're not as complicated as a toilet. For what it's worth, toilets are quite a bit more complicated to make than most people realize.

I watched a program (don't remember name) a few years ago showing how a toilet was made. Made in two halves and then hand blended together, smoothed with water and then fired in a furnace. Cool stuff.

I think you might be thinking of How it's Made on the discovery channel. I seen it as well about making the toilets.

We don't need a toilet. The pile of clothes in the hallway has worked fine for us for years, and it will continue to work.

Wait till you price plumber labor to rough-in a new water service for the urinal (standard house hold water service is 1/2" or 3/4" line). And, it also depends on the demand of the valve as well. It could be 25 or 40 gpm valve, and that mean that you may need to upgrade the water service from water meter to house to at least 1". The reality is that you will need to service the house as well as the urinal, hence you will need 1 1/4" service line to service 25 GPM valves, or 1 1/2" service line to service 40 gpm valves. And, pressure reducing valves as well as backflow preventor aren't cheap that may required by your local jurisdiction.

IMHO, it would cost you several thousands of dollar for the convenient of a urinal.

Woah I never even thought of the cost factor being so darn high.

he's talking old school valves. the new flush valves do not have that high a demand for water savings. Heck, there are waterless urinals too, although I'm not exactly sold on that idea.

Where I used to work; some penny pincher bean counter had the plumbers install some of those waterless urinals for a few years, UGH I was glad when they finally got rid of them.

You need Water to flush away the stuff, and Smell.

Why don't you just pee in the sink.... everyone does it. Couple splashes of water in there and good to go.

Just go pee/water the plants outside = problem solved because you save more water...

Just remove the toilet altogether, instant urinal! You need to have a good aim though, and avoid lighting a match in the room.

Hell, it's simpler than that! Piss in the tub... barely any aiming required, and you don't have to poop into that little hole.

ballers son, ballers. In a single wide you probably want to stick with multi-use items like a toilet bowl, a shower/tub combo etc.

When you expand your dwelling more options open up.

I have 4 bathrooms and feel no need for a urinal, if the idea is to save water either don't flush or get a toilet with a short flush option.

If the idea is anything else then you need to reassess your life.
