My wife had a similar incident happen to her. She and her mom where driving on I-90 across mercer island and some kid threw a water balloon off the overpass and hit there windshield directly. It spiderwebed the entire windshield but thankfully none of the glass actually shattered into the car (thank goodness for shatter-proof glass). I am not sure if they caught the kid but that scared the crap out of my wife and her mom.

dang, a waterballoon can shatter/crack a windshield?
I know they are going at a fast speed, but still...don't water balloons absorb a lot of impact and ultimately just explode?
I have been hit by rocks going 70mph and it wouldn't scratch my windshield.
