Him being a Christian had zero to do with my vote. Kerry was a Christian as well...

Glad to hear that Religion wasnt a motivating factor, there should be strong separation of church and state. But, Kerry is a Catholic. Based on my first hand experience as a Catholic (non-practicing) and living in a bible belt state now, I have heard many and been a (sort-of) participant in many `conversations` about the 2. There are some very divisive trains of thought about them. Mainly because of my geographic location, the `conversations' were that Catholics are liberal, wishy washy and inferior religion-wise to good Christians. Just my opinion, but that did incur some (a lot) favor towards Bush in the election.

Speaking for myself, I got the impression that his faith was a me-too addition to his campaign. Sure he's been an alter boy and all that, but when people think of Bush they quickly think of his faith. He makes frequent references to it, and I have no doubt that it's a large part of his life. But, can anybody say that about Kerry, or does he merely go to church every sunday and think, during service, about what he has to do later on in the day? I don't know, but definitely Kerry gave off a more religious aura than Bush.

I don't understand what religion has to do with a guy who has deliberately killed thoursand of innocent Iraquis. Your president should be trialled and put in jail for crimes agains humanity and you discuss about catholic values?
To explain why a liar, deceiving, ignorant, tap wired, mass murderer was voted again I have to assume that the majority of US people simply realise that after all they get some benefits from waging war all over the world. Economy is thriving and that's all that matter. It should be interesting to check the percentage of votes in areas with factories from boeing or lookheed. This people don't risk directly a terrorist attack (in fact in NY which is at high risk of terrorist attacks, people voted for kerry realising the Bush politics would only bring more terrorism). But no terrorist bomb will ever touch a farm in ohio. Instead in Afghanistan kids are still dying from your f...ing cluster bombs that didn't explode and looks just like nice ball to play with.... Mass murderer... that what you have at the white house but the majority obviously benefit from it.
4 more years of terror for the rest of the world.

I would laugh, but after that story about the blogger getting visited by the SS, I would probably unlink the image.

Unfortunately, we live in tough times as far as civil liberties are concerned.

Meh, while that was put forth jokingly, the 2nd Amendment was written by men who acted on the statement "When all else fails, shoot from cover at their bright red coats." And while I believe that America is, realistically, no where near that point, and while I do not advocate or plan on acting out the sentiment expressed on that T-shirt, I do not disagree with it.

Besides, the Secret Service alledgedly (when I went into that thread, it was just someone's word on a website, without any external sources to back it up) talked to that girl. That's all, talked. If the Secret Service wants to sit down for a chat with me, fine. I have no plans, serious or otherwise, to assassinate the POTUS. But our country was founded by people like Jefferson, who wrote this:

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty.... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
-Thomas Jefferson

I will, however, edit my earlier post slightly.

Man, I really do not know how to reply to such. Must be a lot of unresolved anger there.

Personally I am glad that Bush won - in part because, like giving table scraps to a dog, if Kerry had won it would only encourage some of the liberal idiots here and elsewhere; in essence, this was good for them. They sit here incredulous at how their almighty party could lose and the evil, useless, pathetic right could win.

But if you do a vice versa on this, switching conservatives with liberals and Bush with Kerry, your point would still be valid.

You can't bash liberal idiots without also bashing conservative idiots, or it makes you look like a conservative idiot to everyone that is liberal (whether extreme or just barely).

There are idiots on all sides and always will be. There are also smart, educated, friendly people on both sides and always will be.
