What is it that you expected from this thread? Did you expect some two line message to convince you on what to do? If you really were interested in finding out whether XP is right for you or not, you would be reading one of the hundreds of reviews and previews that are out there.
There's nothing you can't live without. And if there is, then you would have been aware of it by now. But EVERYBODY i've known personally that has actually tried XP loved it (including me). It is Win2k (which is GREAT), but with a new GUI (which is also great IMO) and some little enhancements. If you've already invested in Win2k, it might not be worth it to move to XP unless the GUI is that impressive to you (which to me is)... but if you're still using 9x or ME, i would definitely upgrade.
$200 for a new OS isn't that expensive... especially considering all the enhancements XP comes with. Such as the embedded zip program... how much is winzip to purchase seperately? What about the mp3 ripper... how much would a ripper cost seperately?
What sold it for me is the GUI. Not only is it better eye-candy than Win9x or Win2k, but it's also more logically laid out. All the 'extras' that were in Win2k has been stripped away... and all around, it just feels better.
Definitely the best OS since Win2k... if you're still using Win9x, i would definitely upgrade, no argument about it.
