There was some study I read that said that the main difference between liberals and conservatives with regards to organizing is that liberals tend to think that their views are "unique" and that the majority of people disagree with them, while the opposite is true for conservatives. They imagine everybody around them agreeing with them.
The gist of the article was that because conservatives *think* they agree so much, they organize much better and have more solidarity than they should, which results in them having a disproportionate voice in politics. Although the majority of people are actually on the liberal side, because they see so much action and organization from the conservatives their own belief (that their views are unique and few people agree with them) is reenforced.
