Eye movement tracking / blink to click
Surely the tech exists?

*sitting here with carpal tunnel and would pay $$$$$ for such a solution*

Don't think so. I do it everyday and haven't noticed any fatigue.

because instead of developing this technology, someone is reaching down and fondling themselves in the late hours of the evening.

It's difficult because eye movement is not naturally smooth. Your gaze moves in rapid jumps called saccades to refresh the field of vision. This means it would be hard to get a smooth interpretation of your overall gaze

OK, an easy way though, maybe would be to have special contact lenses that emit a laser beam from the dead center?
maybe? or something

I dont think the fatiquing part would be the constant blinking... it would be the NOT blinking that would be the hard part. ie, glances over at explicit ad on sidebar as gust of wind from rotating fan hits face. UH OH'S!

Commercially available head tracking already exists (Natural Point). I think eye tracking is still in the research phases though.

This

I would think the constant natural blinking will detract from it being of any use as an actual mouse click

Look at how crappy the wii mote is now imagine something that's much more finicky and prone to being poorly implemented...

id use a neural net interface, but i think eye tracking would suck, and blinks are an automatic response, cant control that indefinitely. would be many misclicks, or else we would be buried under pop ups asking us "are you sure you want to click there?"

Just install xeyes or something similar. It will give you the feeling that your computer is being controlled by them.

I believe I have heard about this technology existing being more for those who are handicapped, but I don't think it's commercial. I would not prefer to use my PC with my eyes though. I'm fully capable of using my hands.

Your eyes can cover a large section of the screen without movement.

How would you focus on which control you need to activate?

Thought control will be much more efficient

Tracking of that type is broad not fine tuned.

If your eyes are not moving, there is nothing to track.

uhh that doesnt make sense. "tracking" implies knowing what they are looking at. If you have camera(s) on both eyes, you can calculate from the persons depth perception what they are looking at, then reflect that on a heads up display... no need for the eye to be moving for it to be useful.
