Why Dell sucks.

I used to work in a hospital computer IT department and the first thing we did with the new computers were to load images onto the computers that had all the crap taken out and all the network stuff installed. It was a very efficient system. I formatted my friends Dell D600 with XP Pro over Home when he got it but I noticed it didn't have too much crap on it. I guess companies aren't gonna put all that stuff on the corporate line of computers that they know companies are just gonna take off. So only buy corporate level stuff In reality I'd never build another computer for my parents ever again cuz I'm sick of being their IT bitch so I'm gonna get em an Optiplex which won't have much software preloaded.

Well that website is going on my list on whiney bitches who I don't listen to. All computer companies do this, it's because most companies think people want lots of features. Duh.

So with a new system I reinstall Windows using a clean copy I have already, and with a little extra effort I have a good hardware setup coupled with a lean OS install (well, as lean as Windows gets anyways). Jeez, it's like it was rocket science or something.

A good amount of this problem is the users don't know at all how much memory is required.

I recently saw a compaq system (xp2000 cpu, 128mb ram with 16mb shared video)

112mb for xp home and all other stuff. There was kazaa+aim+yahoo+norton+msn and tons of other junk loading at startup, a reboot took about 15 minutes!
