To those who claim its the "black vote", why did Kerry win in a landslide in Manhattan (ground zero) where it's 54% white?

I have a good idea why (seriously!)
Every time Bush visits NYC, it literally becomes a police state. The streets within 1-2 miles of wherever Bush is get blocked off and lined with 3 rows of police officers with assault rifles in formation, shoulder to shoulder, up and down the street, and black helicopters above every major intersection. Subway lines with stops near him get closed. This is because they KNOW Bush would get assassinated otherwise. It basically shuts down the city for those days, and costs thousands per capita in tax dollars.
I can only imagine what kind of Orwellian nightmare DC must be with him in the whitehouse (when he isn't on his ranch).

i thought people in DC were pissed because Bush is against giving them congressional representation... basically they feel lefted out when small states like RI gets 2 senators and 1 congressperson (something like that, correct me if I'm wrong)
I don't see why they shouldn't have a voice in congress, they're essentially a state.

Link to census data
Are you sure the majority of DC residents are black? Are you sure that there's more poor in DC than the rest of the country? Get your facts straight before you start making baseless claims
Kerry '04!

That's pretty confusing.... that's like the city of Baltimore getting a 2 senetors and a congressman. I'm not sure I like that idea, despite the fact that it would likely benefit the Dems. How about abolish the EC and solve it that way.

Taxation without Representation. It has nothing to do with president elections, they get 3 EVs anyway.
It's not about benefiting democrats. It's about the fact that these people pay their taxes without any representation in congress. I'd be pissed if I was a DC resident and I sure as hell will never vote for some jackass that believes that it's OK for me to pay taxes and not have any representation in congress just because it might damage his party.
My $.02, take it as a grain of salt.

I agree, DC residents aren't being treated fairly. However, I also can't see making them a seperate state, as it's just a medium-sized city. Why wouldn't NYC, Boston, and LA get to be their own states as well? It's absurd. I think the fair solution would be to roll DC into Maryland for political purposes, thereby letting DC residents vote for senators and reps with real voting power.
