Firefox was acting a little funny, and so was my pc so I rebooted. When I restarted Firefox it asked me to create a new profile because the default profile just wouldn't do anymore. So I created a new profile, now all my bookmarks, extensions, and preferences are gone. What happened here? Can I go back to using my old profile and get my bookmarks and extensions back?

Ditto. Luckily it's on a new computer with all the important things backed up. My hard drive is practically empty so that's not it.

yeah. the same problem happened to my brother.

However, since you said you rebooted, I don't think that firefox.exe would be running.

Heh yeah probably. Waiting for OE to try and nuke Thunderbird. Uh oh, I've got Trillian too... *computer catches fire*

The funny thing about it is I had just been using FF several minutes before, I hadn't changed any settings, installed/uninstalled anything, just ran FF and it prompted me for a profile. Something it had never done before on my PC. *shrug* Working fine now.

I think Gark put his finger on it. When FF burps, it can ask you to create another profile. Run profilemanager and hopefully you'll have a choice to choose your default. If not, sh*t happens.

right. IF firefox crashes and you are asked to create another profile, you still have an instance of firefox running. ctrl-alt-del and close it, you wont be asked again (until the next crash)
