Wanted something that'd hold 3-4 larger dogs, luggage, tow a minimum of 4K#.
Ended up buying a new '02 Blazer way back in....'02......because it had the right tow capacity (5200#), could squeeze all the furballs into it without drama, and they dropped the list price of $21K down to $16K. It had a few nice features like a locking rear diff, strong 4 wheel discs with full 4-wheel ABS, dead reliable 4.3L V-6, external engine oil cooler, and a body-on-frame construction that combined with the price, wasn't matched at the time by any other vehicle.
Since it's long paid off (around 5 years ago) and has been almost completely dead reliable during its ~240K miles (outside normal wear items, we've had to replace the fuel pump, alternator, and radiator->this because of a damned plastic tank that cracked on a seam!), we're not parting with it anytime soon. Will be buying a new boat before we get rid of the Blazer, and the new boat won't be coming before next spring.
