Wanted something that'd hold 3-4 larger dogs, luggage, tow a minimum of 4K#.

Ended up buying a new '02 Blazer way back in....'02......because it had the right tow capacity (5200#), could squeeze all the furballs into it without drama, and they dropped the list price of $21K down to $16K. It had a few nice features like a locking rear diff, strong 4 wheel discs with full 4-wheel ABS, dead reliable 4.3L V-6, external engine oil cooler, and a body-on-frame construction that combined with the price, wasn't matched at the time by any other vehicle.

Since it's long paid off (around 5 years ago) and has been almost completely dead reliable during its ~240K miles (outside normal wear items, we've had to replace the fuel pump, alternator, and radiator->this because of a damned plastic tank that cracked on a seam!), we're not parting with it anytime soon. Will be buying a new boat before we get rid of the Blazer, and the new boat won't be coming before next spring.

I replaced my '98 Infiniti QX4 with an '07 Tahoe for the following reasons:

Needed something that could tow a medium or large trailer w/ bikes & gear to track days (Infiniti couldn't tow a bicycle)

Needed a vehicle that could carry 4 adults & tons of camping gear comfortably (2 large tents, 2 large coolers, grills, 6 sleeping bags, etc.)

Needed a vehicle that could carry 4 adults & 3 kids anytime, anywhere (Tahoe seats 7)

Needed a vehicle that could pull up to a 27' boat, 4 adults & gear without a struggle

The Tahoe easily exceeded all of my needs at the time of purchase & then some.

We looked at several makes and models to compare features and price.

Some things that influenced our decision.

- Made in US Factory - Was big part of decision, but we did look at some that were not.
- Head room
- Price
- Value
- Sales person - I simply can not tolerate car salesmen. Know their game before you go shopping and don't buy on day 1. Took three visits to two dealers before we bought. I work multi million dollar deals for my employer, these guys irritate the shit out of me until I find one that is still "human".

06 Lincoln LS
Picked it for a sporty 4-door RWD sedan (handles as well as a Bimmer 5), looks and less expensive parts/maintenance compared to its European counterparts.

^^ nice looking LS, don't really dig the angel eyes on cars that aren't BMWs but to each their own. I looked at some of em, but finding a manual one was too hard.

Looks good man! I didn't know they still made those in 2006. Although it doesn't look like it was many. 8800 sold in the US.

2006 Mini Cooper (ordered in Nov 2005)

Good Gas mileage, small (mattered when I worked in DC), fun to drive.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that they killed off RWD Lincolns
That's not the stock look though - heavily modded (LED lights, grilled, etc.)
